I will be getting my igenix test results tomorrow don't know the results yet but wondering if igenix is always accurate at diagnosing lyme or could you still have a fully negative test for lyme and co but still have lyme? As I said I do not know my results yet but am just wondering about this

As far as I understand there is no lyme test that is 100%. Many things can cause negatives that is why lyme should be a clinical diagnosis with the test to support, not confirm.

I don't know what you mean by "fully negative."
Each band is important, so you can tell a lot by which bands show up. Have you had any other Lyme testing?
I was technically negative on the WB, but was successfully treated.

If by "fully negative" you mean CDC negative, yes.
But, usually, even with a CDC negative test, there will be one or more positive bands that may be relevant.
As I recall you had a rash and illness after a tick bite. That information is important to convey to the LLMD when you have your first appointment. -

I don't think any testing is perfect. Igenex does seem to find awfully more positives than any other lab on Earth based on my reading here over the years. I still am yet to be decided on if this is good/bad. I have my reservations on it.

can all bands from the igenix test be negative for lyme and co and still have lyme or is igenix always reliable?
I have just heard that no test is reliable but don't know how unreliable the igenix testing is
What does cdc mean?
What kind of test is it that igenix does ?
What is a western blot ? Is this done thru igenix?

CDC...Centers for Disease Control .. means nothing really, but some drs think it's the end all. LLMD's know better. Regular Drs think you have to be positive according to the CDC's guidelines.
(Didn't you say you were in the medical field?)
Igenex does all kinds of tests for Lyme. The biggie is the Western Blot. Maybe this will help.
Just relax and post your results here when you get them. No need to get worried ahead of time.

There is seronegative lyme, regardless of the lab, because if antibodies are not being made, they can't be detected. The longer a person has had lyme, the more likely it is they will be seronegative.
Antigen tests which look for the actual pathogen rather than the antibody response to it consist of pcr and culture. Maybe there are other types. A pcr may also be false negative if the pathogen does not appear in that blood sample. If you look in blood for a pathogen that is more often found in tissue, you may come up short.
As for the coinfections such babesia or bartonella, testing does not look for all the strains/species that exist. This can also be said of lyme testing.
So, you need to know quite a bit about testing in order to understand what the results mean or don't mean.

I am still confused though , what exactly is the igenix test, is it a western blot? Or is it detecting antogens?

Igenex has many different tests for Lyme. Your LLMD probably ordered the Western Blot.
