Hello. I cannot figure out if I have Babesia.

Current new LLMD thinks probably not. Didn't ask why, but perhaps because I was walking around with Lyme and Bartonella without knowing it? Although living with symptoms calling it everything else- stressful life, or blaming myself for not 'being able to get it together.'

No memory of tick bite, but feral cats I took on to tame 14 years ago (scratched, bit) is where I am guessing I got infected.

I realize I'm 'lucky' (ha ha) that I got a positive Lyme PCR blood test and high positive Bartonella titers on my Igenex testing.

Babesia came back negative (titers). Yes, I have some symptoms I could say, but I have a lot going on.

I'd like to try another test for babsesia.

I'm on the west coast- not sure that matters, but...

Does anyone have an opinion on the best lab for Babesia testing?

Thank you.

Do you have insurance? If so, Labcorp offers testing for B. microti & B. duncani (WA-1). Labcorp actually sends the duncani test to Focus labs in CA.

Probably Igenex or Fry Lab is best. Many LLMDs will treat with symptoms, since the testing is often falsely negative.

i came back positive for ehrlichia with igenex and negative with focus labs. i would not recommend them.

i have clinically symptoms of bart (to a t, actually) but my tests are negative. llmd is treating it.

i have had igenex antibody tests for babs and the fish/pcr test and it was negative, too. i am thinking of doing a test w/ fry labs just to make sure. llmd said that towards the end of treatment if i'm not getting well, we can go the mepron route. im a test person, so i like to know. it's hard b/c the tests are not accurate.

Hi Surprise:

Our daugher tested negative for Babs 4 or 5 times but she had all the symptoms (Lyme and Babesia).

I know Dr. B in the guidelines indicate at least 15 strains infecting humans with commercial tests for 2. Now add the new parasite discovered by Frye labs.

A negative test doesn't mean you don't have it.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

I just read through Dr. B's symptom list again for babs.

I for sure have some of these symptoms. But I can explain them away to other things.

I think I am going to try 1 more test - already did antibody test for it through Igenex, negative.

I think I keep holding out for not having it.
