If I have one gene of each, my llmd gave me b-12 methylcolbaline shots, why do I feel like I'm jumping out of my skin. He's not making much of finding out about the gene, but am I wasting my rocephin and zithro and supps if theyre not being absorbed or detoxed somehow? Ive had remissions before, but I always was on antibiotics. For at least 6 years of orals, Iv. I'm on fluid restriction because of the hyponatremia, 32 oz. so I can't do excess drinking or Epsom salt baths. What would you do. I think I'm taking a break from the b-12 shots. I'm so mentally hyper. Thanks.

Methyl-B12 isn't enough - you need methyl-folate in addition for the MTHFR gene.

I have MTHFR - compound hetero I take Deplin - a high dose prescription methyl-folate (see Deplin website for description if unfamiliar). I do think it helps me come through herx better. Certainly helped with bruising. I am curious why you think abx may not be absorbed though? I haven't found this information so you have me curious. The detox part I get though which is why I asked to use Deplin and bypass the OTC options.

I'm confused about the whole thing, my llmd doesn't think it's a big thing and I'm guessing are the antibiotics killing and then just recirculating not detoxed out. Do u detox through urine, sweat, drinking? If u can answer, that would help, I'm jut confused about everything in my mind now. Thanks.

Compound heterozygous is serious. If your doctor is making light of it, he is probably not well informed. You can't just take B12 shots. You need everything to be balanced.
It would be good to consult with one of the doctors that understands this better. If you can afford it, you could take the complete methy cycle tests for all 30 mutations so you know how everything is interacting. The test with results and recommendations is $500. Then you can arrange a consultation for more information if you need it.
In the meantime, go to Ben Lynch's website and ask your question there. He doesn't answer everything but hopefully he will get to yours. You can also scroll through the questions he has answered to see what relates to compound hetero.

You can also ask questions on the Yasko yahoogroups site for chronic fatigue related to MTHFR. It is easy to join and you will get another perspective.
