I am going to the doctor this afternoon. Not sure which one to ask for.

Mino was better for me. I got sun-poisoning through my windshield, in Ohio, in March, with sunscreen on when I took doxy.

I'm very fair skinned, burn (and blister) easily without being on any meds. I took Mino all spring, summer, and fall last year. It did not cause any problems for me.

Thanks, I'm headed out now.

My LLMD specifically put me on mino. instead of doxy for that reason.

LIVER support is more important to help ears better tolerate mino. Have B-6 & GINGER CAPSULES on hand, too, if there is any vertigo/nausea issues as you start.

Some say mino helps the brain better - just remember to get the liver/ear support in place first, if possible. Details here:

I hope you got Mino... it is much better in terms of sun damage. Doxy is making me look like a speckled egg, right in time for Easter! [Wink]

He wanted to give me doxy but said he will change if/when I have problems. Thanks everyone.

I am extremely sun-sensitive when taking Doxy. My knuckles would get burned from the sun coming into the car when I was driving.

If I walked down to the mailbox, even wearing long sleeves, it felt like my skin was burning from the inside out. I won't take Doxy again. Not everyone is this sun-sensitive.

Minocycline does not cause these problems for me. I always wear sunscreen when outside.

You probably know this already, but don't have any dairy, magnesium, or iron within two hours of taking it or it will not be absorbed properly. If it makes you nauseous, eat something substantial and non-dairy before taking it.

Do not lay down for an hour after taking it or it can ulcerate your esophagus. Drink a full glass of water when you take it for the same reason.

Good luck!
