Yesterday I went into our local infectious disease dr. and explained again my case.

I pleaded with him to get my life and body back on track.

I asked about testing for Co-infections and he said"you cant believe everything you read on the internet".

"I can order a 1000.00 dollars worth of testing for you but I promise you dont have Co-infections".

He said it sounds like you could have Lyme arthritis.

I dont believe this at all considering all the researched I did hear says I haven't even been treated correctly for Lyme.

So he is going to do new blood work to recheck the lymes levels.

This is to see if they have gotten worse or are the same.

Then he wanted to test for Babs.

He will look at the blood work in our visit one week from yesterday and if nothing has changed or my levels are worse he will start IV antibiotics.

The only problem I have with getting the blood work down now is I was feeling so horribly before seeing him I started treating myself with doxy. for only a few days.

So can I get the blood work? I want accurate results.
Also what do I expect from the IV antibiotics?

What can you tell me about Lymes arthritis?

thanks,
Cat

You really should consider going to a LLMD not an infectious disease doctor for proper treatment of Lyme. You are correct in your research that you are not being treated properly.

Lyme arthritis is a term that ID docs use to say that your joint problems are untreatable and not due to an active infection. Post Lyme will be another term you likely hear soon to "explain" your other symptoms that began after a tick bite and are not improving. At this point, I don't think he's going to offer you much in the way of help.

I am in a nearby state and was told that there are no coinfections here by a rheumatologist and that I should do nothing about my symptoms. He refused to even run a western blot claiming that I would have no antibodies to detect. I had one done with a different doctor after this and tested CDC positive.

Taking doxy can interfere with the test. At my LLMD appointment, I was told to be off antibiotics for at least 14 days.

My advice would be to try to find a LLMD in your area. I know one that may be nearby you, if you would like the name, feel free to PM me and I'll send it along.

I hope you can get to the bottom of this and start feeling better soon.
