My 7 year old and I (both in treatment) have had a cold for about a week. It seems like it was going away and then hits me again. I am so snotty, sneezy and coughing like crazy. I do not have a a fever and the snot is clear.
I haven't had a cold like this since I started treating 19 months ago. Everyone in my town has this nasty cold virus.
I have done the neti pot, theraflu and extra C.
Granted my Aunt was in hospice and I have been working everyday and spending time with her after. She passed on Easter Sunday and it has been nothing but visiting family, the wakes and today the funeral and the repast.
I am so sure I pushed myself to the limit. Just feel so horrible, it is almost welcoming because it is an actual cold, but I hope I can get rid of it soon. Posted by aperture (Member # 34822) on :

It is a good sign that you have a cold (as crummy as you feel, that's no comfort), because your immune system is actually doing it's job now.

So sorry to hear you got a second whammy.
This bug must be ripping through NJ. I got it 2 1/2 weeks ago, and there's still a little linger of phlem in my chest.
It's a doozy - my advice is to keep lots of tissues and a garbage can handy, to get rid of the never ending mucous. (And where the h? does all of that come from anyway? Is it physically possible to store that much in one's own body??)
I tried everything I could think of to fight it off, to no avail: Zicam, giant doses of C, clove oil, and Diflucan did not help me fight off this mess...

Oh fflutterby, I'm sorry to hear of your Aunt's passing. And now to be sick on top of it! Yes, it sounds like you have pushed yourself. Hope you feel better quickly. (Like you believe too, I do think it's a good sign that your immune system is working.)

Alas, I have been in a similar boat with the nasty cold/cough that has made the rounds in my house, too.
Happy to say that, yes, it will pass (although very slow-l-y....).
Be good to yourself and take breaks when you need to. We can't be all things to all people, all of the time. My body told me that in no uncertain terms last week : (

Thank you all. lymeinhell, I was wondering where all this snot came from !! I cannot believe the amount, I have never ever seen so much. I am so glad you said that, lol !!
Talk about adding insult to injury....Did I mention I got a normal 6 day period last month and 27 days later another period. I have not bled for less than 2 weeks in a long time. I usually skip every other month too. I know that is another good sign too. Even though, on top of all this I also have cramps.

I also lost my last Aunty this Easter Sunday,she was in hospice too.And her funeral was today...we couldn't go.

Just wanted to add - that if it settles in your chest, be sure to take an expectorant and cough suppressant. Safetussin works quite well with none of the added fun stuff like alcohol or gluten or a decongestant that will raise your blood pressure (if that's an issue for you).
And of course, never go anywhere without a wad of tissues or napkins

Not doing well at all, you were right lyminhell it has settled in my chest. I also have cramps and horrible fatigue, headache and back ache.... I have a fever of 100 also. I guess I am not tolerating this protocol as well as I thought.

My significant other has bad allergies... Do you think it could be that? His mother down south had them, too - She thought it was a cold but her doctor told her it was allergies. She never had allergies before & she's in her 70's.
I had allergies once or twice in my life & they are not fun!I felt like I breathed in a steel wool pad. They do make you feel like crap.
Stress make it all worse. You just have to rest up & drink lots of fluids.

I too had the low grade fever, and the achey I don't want to get out of bed feeling, for about 3 days.
I freaked a bit because I just kept feeling worse and worse, rather than better, as time went on. And all that lovely mucous did turn to green.
Just when I thought I'd have to either call for a Zpack or go see my LLMD, the fever broke and my head cleared (but the nasties in my chest hung around for weeks).
There's no way this is allergies - this is a cold/mild flu thing that's spreading like wildfire in NJ.
Lots of fluids and even though you probably can't taste or smell a darned thing, force yourself to eat. Chicken soup comes to mind.... Posted by fflutterby (Member # 28081) on :
I think it is finally clearing. I presume you are right Julie, it likes my chest right now and although unwelcome, seems to be settling in. My nose is clearing. my mucous is yellowish, so I am sure it is a cold/mild flu. May be allergy on top of it because when I go outside I feel even worse.
We are blessed to live in NJ, aren't we ?

Yes indeedy!!! Some serious pollen out this week, so keep the windows closed and the AC on.
Glad you're finally past the 'getting worse' stage - it should be better from now on, just may take way longer than you think to clear. I'm 3 weeks in and finally stopped coughing up nasties.
