I'm a bit concerned. Looking at the transcript, the model with Lyme stated:

Stephanie reveals that she has been self-medicating with so-called whip-its, or inhaling nitrous oxide, which she purchases online. She says 24 whip-its come in a box, and she uses up to four boxes a day, giving her about three hours of pain relief. Im just trying to numb my body, she says in a previously-recorded interview.

-What on Earth??? That can obviously do some major neurological damage. I don't think that will help our cause.

Oh boy

Well that's going to make all of look like a bunch of wackos. Why would they even put someone like that on?

I've done whip-it's in my younger days. Like maybe a few at a party now and then.

4 cases of 24? That's a death wish.

I don't even want to watch now.

If you go to Dr. Phil's website, he has a post show interview where he talks about how the show went. In that, he clearly explains that he wishes there was more time to address the political side of this disease.

Posted by tickled1 (Member # 14257) on :

Well that's somewhat promising. I'm gonna watch.

Hopefully, the whip-its comment was cut out.

Still upsets me that so many of us are suffering (doing everything possible to make our bodies strong, going gluten free, sugar free, casein free, etc, etc) and now someone who harmed herself further with whip-its after the fact will be treated by Dr B pro bono.

What's the point in doing the show if you aren't going to spend some time talking about how political the disease is? Wasn't the whole point?

With all the things to talk about, they spend time on a nut job doing whip-its. Sure sounds like a hachet job, once again.

Let us know how the show goes. No interest in watching it now.

Ok, I'm going to go vomit now. The whip-its girl now has a link on the Dr Phil homepage linking to her "Go Fund Me" webpage.

On the right hand side, under "Additional Resources"...and above the UOS link.

I had a feeling this would be a disaster. Dr. Phil is a big time con man.

Why are threads being deleted by Six? Why are users being censored?

Just watched the show. I thought it was good.

Did they go into the political nature of the disease?

How badly did "Whippit Girl" make us look?

Posted by tickled1 (Member # 14257) on :

It wasn't as bad as I thought with the whippits. The girl is truly very sick. Wasn't thrilled with Dr. Phil's demeanor at first. What was key is that someone on his staff suffers from Lyme and he believed her but I sensed that if he didn't know someone first hand that he would be just like all the other abusive docs many of us have been to.

The good thing was that the ILADS doctor was there with the staff member and is actually her doctor so I think that made a huge impression. The whippit girl will be treated by that doctor.

How did the IDSA IDiot come across?

Posted by tickled1 (Member # 14257) on :

I don't feel like he had the upper hand at all. Started referring to "studies". ILADS threw a "study" back at him that I thought sounded more credible.

Cool...

Just watched Dr. Phil. I am happy this topic is getting out there. I was afraid it would end up making lyme sufferers look crazy but it didn't. I hope this will help people understand how serious and very real this disease is.

i'm glad they have more than one person. Especially the lady that is the producer on the Dr. Phil show. That helps a ton. The other lady is so on the edge and in the middle of her bad things happening she's not in a clear state of mind so who knows what people think. Dr Phil's producer helps a ton.
