Notice how they explain that thrush is difficult to scrape off the white growth and that underneath it will be an inflamed base that will be painful and may bleed.

When I've seen thrush it's looked like a coating of thick cottage cheese that's grown in the person's mouth.

There are some foods that can leave a thin white film on a healthy persons tongue. Medicines can cause this and dry mouths. This should go away with brushing your tongue and mouth rinse. Some people also have hairy tongues that look a little different.

Try a rinse of half hydrogen peroxide and half water, that should clean your tongue off if it is just a food residue. Then gently brush your tongue with a soft toothbrush.
