Just wondering if anything else can cause drenching night sweats?

Numerous things can, but as far and Lyme and Coinfections, Night sweats are a pretty big clue to Babesia.

I think I've read somewhere that light night sweats can also indicate bartonella. However, they are also one of the main symptoms of babesia.

In your case, the most likely is babesia! (for women it might be the hormones, of course)

sometimes I wonder if my night sweats are just because I'm sleeping under a down blanket and it traps way too much body heat. I don't get them if I keep the bedroom temp around 60 and don't use a down blanket. hmmmm....

Bartonella and Brucella can also cause sweats. Check out Brucella in particular!

Babesia microti causes the drenching night sweats. Babesia duncani has milder sweats, if any. Bartonella causes thick sticky sweat.

TB and HIV can also cause night sweats.

I wonder if the newly discovered infection, Polymyxzoa Rheumatica can cause night sweats since it is similar to Babesia??

Thanks all for the input. Dekrator, no HIV or TB here thankfully. As with most I've been tested for everything under the sun multiple times and the tests for those things at least are reliable

I always understood the differences to be as Nefferdun stated but I needed to throw the question out there to see if there would be any concensus.

I never heard of brucella, have to look that one up. Not quite sure what to think. It sounds like microti would be the culprit even though test was neg for that as well. Doc has me on babs meds now but I'm wondering if bart might be the answer.

Apparently there are quite a few babs strains out there but we only test for a couple ???

hmmm...................

And the journey continues.....

Parasites and diabetes are both candidates as well as the other things mentioned.

hmmm.. I believe yeast can do it also.

As well as all the above, my LLMD says that the sweating is your body's attempt to detoxify.

I get night sweats as a side effect of meds/supplements that boost serotonin.

In my case, I can take small doses of these meds/supplements to help depression, but when I reach the point of night sweats/vivid dreams, I have to back off.
