I want to know this also. I have it on my list to buy, but forgot why.
I was going to buy it fresh, here in Calif it's plentiful.
Can it also be taken in pill/capsule form?

It's mostly used when one is chelating heavy metals. Cilantro is a heavy metal chelator, as well.

Do not use cilantro tincture without a doctor's instructions. Use only organic cilantro tincture. I have used Biopure for years. It can also be applied to the kidney and liver area, but again, only when you are told by someone who understands where the metals are, etc. Cilantro crosses the blood brain barrier and you really need to know when and how to use it for heavy metal detox. All metal detox should be supervised by a knowledgable practitioner. It is not a do-it-yourself therapy.
Take care.

I agree. It is most definitely not a do it yourself therapy. Find someone with lots of experience in the field.

My llmd advised me to take cilantro for herxing. I bought a tincture but never took it after reading that it chelates heavy metals.
I am not trying to chelate heavy metals right now, one thing at a time! So I wonder why she gave me this advice. Haven't been able to ask her.

Do you know if it safe to include a small amount of cilantro in your diet in order to detox or chelate metals gradually?
I would like to add it in small amounts to my salads and soups and other dishes. I remember herxing one time when I added it to chicken soup so I would have to go easy...
Just wondering if anyone knows if this is safe to do in comparison to the highly concentrated supplements.

I eat it all the time...love it.. hasn't done anything for LD....just like it...should be safe .
unless you're talking about 3 cups at once or something. Posted by Brussels (Member # 13480) on :
There are countries that use cilantro (leaves) virtually everywhere, in many foods (India, Vietnam, Brazil). In India, they also use the seeds (delicious).
I eat a lot of seeds (I find they are stronger than leaves for detoxing).
I guess, if you are not used to it, start slow. I would NOT start with tincture, just with it as a food. Read Buhner's books to see why whole plant is preferred.
I rarely took coffee but when I finally started (as medicine), I felt like one of the worst herxes of my life. It took me more than a year to get used to coffee!
Like with anything you are not used, start slow!

I read cilantro will not pull the metal out of your teeth so if you have amalgams it is safer to use than something like DMSA.
What I remember reading is to crush up half a cup of fresh cilantro into some liquid and drink it on an empty stomach 2-3 times a day for 3 days for a metal cleanse.
If you are not ready for that (and I'm not), then a lot of salsa with fresh cilantro is a good beginning.
