I think I might be herxing from an A-BAB challenge I'm doing. I'm on the meds below, and have been taking 5 drops, 3x/day for a few days, and last night and this morning I took 10.
I'm under a lot of stress right now anyway - trying to get my house ready to sell, getting ready to move in with my SO (he's wonderful!), out on worker's comp for carpel tunnel, no money, having major anxiety about going back to work after I'm fixed, etc.
But I'm really weepy, and feel so overwhelmed by everything that I just don't know where to start. That's not usual for me. I guess you could say I feel very fragile.
I can't go back to my full time job; I'm too tired and foggy most of the time to do a good job, and the tinitus is driving me nuts. SO I'm also stressing about how to pay my bills until I sell my house and get moved. I'm going to try for SSDI, but in the meantime I don't know what to do.
ANyway - I would bet that many of you are in or have had the same nightmare. If it's a herx to the A-BAB challenge, I know to back off, get back to normal then start again at only a little bit at a time, per my doc.
Thanks for listening.

Babs is rough stuff. Can you back off the meds a bit until you feel better?

From what I've read, your starting way too high on A-Babs
If your loaded with Babs as I am, you MUST go slow with your treatment
I know that kind of Crying stuff real well. You can sit all day and try and find excuses for why your doing it, but it's Neuro flaring from Toxins, the Babs itself, Cytokines, etc. causing the Crying.
Back down and start again slow would be my advice.
Best to you...

I know this is an old post. But I just want to add this. In looking at the ingredients for A-Bab - it is mentioned that it includes a chinese herb that raises serotonin thus balancing neurotransmitters. Because my neurotransmitters were so out of whack from the Lyme/Bart/Babesia, I went to a psychiatrist and asked to be treated naturally. This is something that I learned. When you raise Serotonin in your body, it depresses Norepinephrine and visa versa. What this means is if you have low endorphins (dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine), taking something that promotes or raises serotonin can depress these neurotransmitters. This is not a good thing for everybody which is why SSRI medications do not work for everybody as they only recycle and thus raise serotonin. I was low in BOTH serotonin and norepinephrine so I had to take both 5htp (to raise serotonin) and tyrosine (to raise norepinephrine)in order to balance me out. I no longer have to take them because my bartonella infection is out of the picture but until it was dealt with my neurotransmitters were in the gutter. So to me, it makes sense that A-Bab could make someone depressed, and cry easily, as it does mess with neurotransmitters. It also could just be a passing 'herx'. Neurotransmitter testing can be done - I had mine done through Pharmasan Labs.

Thanks SLML (and I hope Denise is well)
SLML, could you please share what that herb is that raises serotonin? I have A-FNG Byron White for yeast,
but do not want to take a herb that directly affects neurotransmitters.

suprise - here it is - it is in the A-bab formula
Gou Teng: This herb has been used to lower the excitability of the central nervous system. Has been used in Chinese medicine for hypertension, convulsions, headache, dizziness, and apoplexy. It can increases serotonin that can result mood and cognitive improvements, including OCD, IBS, fibromyalgia, depression and anxiety.

@surpirse - the herb that potentially raises serotonin in the a-bab formula by byron white is not in the a-fng formula you are taking so I wouldn't worry!
The A- FNG does not have that in it.

The 5 to 10 drop dosage is just a challenge. If you don't pass the 5 drops a day for 1 week, as soon as you start to herx you are to stop the formula and give your body a few days to clear out then you start with 1 drop once a day and if you herx on just 1 you drop it down to 1/2 etc...
The only time you should do the high drop dosages is if they don't make you herx.
If you need the actual challenge instructions let me know and I will email them to you.

SLML -- I had the same test from Pharmasan. Are we sure that it is accurate? I was told by the doc who ordered it that it just measures what shows up in your urine, that there is no real way to measure what it is in your brain?

CD57 - In my opinion and experience the urine tests are very accurate. I had them done for about 2 years and they would change due to treatment. For example, if I took more 5-htp, my urine levels for serotonin would go up and likewise if I was taking more of the tyrosine (then norepinephrine/epinephrine would go up). Before I knew I had Lyme, Bartonella & Babesia, I knew something was wrong because I was so moody and depressed and so I took prescription Lithium for it. My doctor added in the 5htp and the Tyrosine and urine tested me. My levels were all within normal limits. After a year or so, I decided to go off the lithium and my urine neurotransmitter levels fell 65% so we had to triple the dose of 5htp and tyrosine and it brought my neurotransmitter levels back up and stabilized my mood better. I no longer have to take any of these supplements because apparently Bartonella was causing all these mood issues. Once that was gotten rid of, my mood stabilized.
