Is an extremely sore throat (now lasting for a least a week) one of the TBI symptoms that could have flared up, or should I be going to see my regular doctor about this?

I assume that since I'm on Rocephin that I wouldn't get strep throat or anything like that. My family members all did have a cold last week, and my son still has a sore throat, but a whole week of it this severe?

There are a few small white patches in the very back and redness. I took some diflucan to make sure it wasn't yeast and it didn't affect it at all. Swallowing is not pleasant right now...

(I am working on a call into my llmd as well btw, but I thought I'd post here too) Thanks.

Sounds like strep to me, but I am far from being a doc.
I would have it checked out.

Rocephin probably doesn't work on strep.

feel better soon!

my daughter has had a very sore throat/glands for several weeks. Our doctor recommended consult with ENT. I am concerned about 1) what to say regarding lyme treatment and 2) that she has been on antibiotics of some type for a year.

Currently on biaxin, A-L, A-bart. When symptoms worsened Rifampin, Doxy, A-bart.

Will they recommend strep culture/ treatment?

has Lyme, Bart, Q Fever, FL1953

I have had the same occurrences of extreme sore throats as well. They are frequent, and they never test positive for strep. Since my throat looks so bad, they prescribe antibiotics anyway--mine gets pus and everything.

I can't help but think it is bart related.

Hope you feel better soon!

Anything give you relief?

Tonsillectomy ever recommended?

I had a severe sore throat for 10 straight months while on ketek, amox, and probenecid. When I started on IV Rocephin it went away within 3 days and I haven't had one since...been 5 years now.

I just saw an ENT and have candida pharyngitis. It very well could be yeast of the vocal cords like me or yeast of the throat. The white spots were one of my signs. The ENT threaded a scope through one of my nostrils to visualize my vocal cords and saw "plaques". (fun) My throat is sore so go and get this checked out.

I have a friend with those symptoms. What was the treatment the ENT gave?
