Just started Biaxin 2 days ago and have had the worst nausea and stomach pain from it.
Just wondering if anyone else had this and if it goes away once your body adjusts to it?
Any tips to help it?
Thanks so much!!

I just started Biaxin yesterday...it seems really powerful...yick.
I just drink tons of water to counteract the taste and the stomachache. Try and eat something substantial (not easy on yeast-free, sugar-free, gluten-free diet, I started eating chicken because there's hardly anything left.)
I am hoping that the more unpleasant of the side effects wears off in a few days. I'm just dreading taking my pill at 6 pm. Two hours later, like clockwork, I'll be getting an awful mixture of anxiety and extreme fatigue.
Good luck, I'm with you.

Thanks for you reply slowli. I can't believe how bad I feel from this stuff!!
I have absolutely no appetite so will have to force myself to eat something, chicken is a good idea.
Hopefully it gets better for both of us as our bodies adjust. I don't feel like it's a herx, feels like a side effect from the drug.

yeah, I'm making chicken stock right now...chicken and rice soup is the only thing that sounds remotely good for some reason.
I agree, as much as I'd like to believe that it's hitting something, I believe this is side-effect stuff too.
I did have some curious bone & joint pain last night and foot pain first thing this morning though, so maybe it's doing something?
I've read that herxes often happen on day 4...I know I couldn't get out of bed on day 4 of Plaquenil from the fatigue after days of weird side-effects, and then it got so much better. Hoping this follows the same track.
Anyway, hope you adjust to it soon (me too)!

Your soup sounds good, even though it's warm out here.
My Doctor is trying to hit Bart with the Biaxin and I have noticed more pain in my fingers and feet since starting too, so hopefully it is hitting something.

birdie, your reaction to Biaxin sounds like mine. I was given it years ago by my first lyme doctor.
Each day, my anorexia, insomnia, and anxiety got worse. (I had none of these before starting Biaxin.) By day 4, I had to call the doctor because on day 3 I wasn't able to bring myself to eat even one teaspoon of food all day long.
That's how bad the anorexia was. It was total anorexia by day 3.
By day 3, I also wasn't able to sleep even one wink all night long. (The insomnia got worse each night until it got to no sleep possible all night.)
The doc laughed and said it was side effects of Biaxin and changed my meds.
Do a little research on the web regarding possible Biaxin side effects. They can be many and varied. Also read the package insert. But, the anorexia was not named in my package insert, so you can't trust that ALL the side effects are listed there.
I would suggest you call the lyme doc for another med. You don't have to suffer with side effects like this.
I don't believe this is a herx at all based on my experience and how yours is closely following mine.
It took 4 days off of Biaxin for me to return to normal.

Yes, TF that sounds exactly how I feel! The thought of eating makes me sick.
I agree it must be a side effect. I was just switched to Biaxin from Zith because my LLMD feels it's stronger at targeting Bart but I don't know how long I can take these side effects. I am also taking Rifampin and Flagyl.
I will call on monday and see if there is another option.
