I started at 3cc almost a month ago. Was doing ok, so after 2 weeks, I took it up to 5cc. After a week at 5cc which is just 1 tsp and half the recommended dose, I began to get flu like Herxy, but was still ok.
The 4th week, I began to get emotional and said, I'd better hold just to be safe. Well, too late...
I'm 4 days holding now and I'm Herxing away, crying at anything/everything. The base of my skull feels like someone shoved a steel pole in my brain stem.
Not sure how to get the Babesia with this drug. I'm so ****ed off !
Everyone told me to slow down, so I did, now the Encephalitis again. It's more then crying, my entire brain feels swollen. I'll be like this for another few days before it all calms down. Emotional Herxing has always been my biggest problem. Anxiety goes nutzo as well.
Oh and.. My Liver Function tests went up, so I would have had to hold anyhow. Wonder why my ALT/AST are high on just 1/2 the full dose.
I guess I'm going back to Herbs. I need a vacation from this crap !!!!!
Too bad Psych meds make me worse, which means my Serotonin is fine. Even confirmed this with a Neuro Science test.
Can anyone say Urggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh ?

LT - I feel your pain. I just posted in another post about having to go off of Mepron too. How do you know this is a herx and not a side effect of Mepron?
Either way it's frustrating because I've made so much progress against Babesia, so I HATE to stop now, and I've always suspected babs is responsible for my worst symptoms.

Why did you have to go Off ? Not sure I've made any progress against Babs from all the stop starting I've had to do.
I do know that Cryptolepis made me Herx differently, so I might just try that next go round and see what happens.
Problem with Mepron is that it is so Liver Toxic and thus Toxic to the rest of the body. In my case, the Brain.
So hard to say if this is a Cytokine Storm or what.
All I do know is the my Autonomic Dysfunction flares up bad from it and most things I take for Babs.

Have you tried Melerone? You can start at a low dose and then increase as tolerated. My doctor switched me to Melerone because of the reactions I had with Mepron. He is titrating the dose up and then after I have gotten the babesia load down a bit I will start back on Mepron.
I am tolerating the Melerone better and slowly making some progress.

I think some of us just can't tolerate the full dose. In my first run, I did the 2 tsp. a day and did not last long. Now, I'm back on it, but staying at a quarter dose for awhile (1/2 tsp/day) and THAT is really hard, but I seem to be enduring it. I'm not going to ramp up until I'm really sure it's not going to cause side effects I can't sustain, and I'm taking herbs too (Nutramedix Quina and Artemesia Annua).
