Are drenching, and I mean that as in soaking wet night sweats a symptom of Lyme?

Babesia is more likely.

I had drenching any time of the day. It was miserable. It was like someone turned on the internal sprinklers that came spraying on the outside of the body. Wasn't enough tissues in the world to stop it.

I have never had anything like this - I woke up completely soaked. I am supposed to restart rocephin IV on tuesday after having an allergic reaction to it about three weeks ago. Starting w a lower dose and taking Claritin 20 minutes before. Little worried about that.

Does rocephin treat babesia?

No, Rocephin does not treat Babesiosis. It is similiar to malaria and needs to be treated with an anti-malarial, such as Mepron, with a macrolide such as Biaxin or Zithromax.

Does your doctor know you are having these?

No, Sammi he doesnt. This just started to get really bad this week and he has been away. Truthfully I have had them before just not quite as bad and never mentioned it to him. At the time I thought it was hormonal but I am pretty sure it's not.

I think you should definitely tell him.

Some doctors believe the co-infections need to be treated first. He may want to change your potocol if he knows you are having these.

Is there a definitive test for babesia?

Posted by Sammi (Member # 110) on :

There are tests for it, but like with the other tick-borne diseases no test is completely reliable.

I would be VERY worried about that!!!

Sometimes after treating Lyme, the coinfections will come out full force.

Testing for co's is just as bad as for Lyme.

Yes Lymetoo I am really more than a little worried about the rocephin. I wanted to discuss other options but the dr didn't seem to have any suggestions. I am allergic to penicillin, sulfer, cipro and ceftin. Not much left for me?

I have had a lot of neuro symptoms also and in the past month have developed ear problems. Pressure, ringing, clogged feeling, sensitive to loud noises, off balance, vertigo. Of course ent said ears were fine. Hah!

There are other meds besides the ones you list. I have problems with several antibiotics also.

Feeling off-balance and having vertigo can also be symptoms of Babs.

Why then is the dr so intent on using rocephin I wonder.

I think you need to speak with him.

I get night sweats when I take too much of a medication or supplement that increases serotonin.

"Try bactrim , artemisin , mepron , malarone .I was told if I react to them I definitly have babesia.and I did."

I have the night sweats too. It comes and goes with time. I just had a really bad episode from Oct to Dec and then it died out, from drenching sweat to mild nightly sweat. I was on only Doxy and Biaxin at that time that it did get worst.

I do not react to 750MG BID at all, it was like drinking water. I also do not react to Bactrim DS. I did once take more than a double dose of Mepron and got shakiness, vibrations in head, tingling, uneasiness, heart palps too. I always associated this with overdosing, as to those are some of the symptoms listed.

I also tested negative to Babs and get the air hunger. So do I have babs?
