I haven't been to an LLMD yet, but I read the Cigna Lyme treatment guidelines and it states they only cover the 30 days of antibiotics because anything beyond that is considered experimental.

Is this common with insurance companies? Any way around it? How do you afford the abx without insurance? Are they expensive?

So I am on Cigna as well. If your doctor prescribes ABX then Cigna should have to pay for it, unless they do not cover that drug. I do not think that Cigna will actually know why he prescribed long term ABX.

Also in Texas, docs no longer have to only treat for with 30 days of ABX. A new law went in that says other forms of treatment can be prescribed and the doctors will not be subjected to complaints to the Texas Medical Board.

I have been on ABX for 9 months, my son for a year and my youngest son for 5 months without any push back from Cigna.

All the Best, MattH
