Hi. Excuse my ignorance as I explain. A few know I tested positive on an Elisa test and Westernblot done at a 'normal lab' here in Europe.
I've read that those test are unrealiable of course and my present ILAD dr. made some kind of comment as well in that direction.
My ILAD dr. asked for another test done in Ausburg, Germany that checks the CD57 NK cells as well as for other co-infections.
The test came back and said something about Borrelien Elispot LTT which I don't understand yet.
It was a bunch of 0's so I thought at first that meant I tested negative.
Then on the CD57 NK section I had a reading of 81 with the normal range being between 100-360.
I've read elsewhere that the normal range can be 60-360. ???
Of course I've also read that not all believe the test is really useful??
Anyways, under the CD57 score it said,' that there appears to be 'suppressed' CD57 in possible connection with chronic Borrelion...' (bare w/ me, I'm translating this from German with fog brain.
As far as other stuff I tested high for Microplasma pneumonia (50.4) which I suppose has not much to do with Lyme???
I also scored a tad high (55) on my Hematocrit??? and a tad low on MCHC (31.5)
I know we're not to diagnose Lyme exclusively from lab results but this test wasn't cheap and I'm utterly confused to what all this means in light of all the contradicting info I read?
It's really bringing me down big time. Any ideas on this stuff? thnx

A positive test is a POSITIVE test.. do not ignore it!! Not everyone gets a positive from Igenex... I didn't .. yet I treated and am well now.
A positive test along with a low CD57 is saying something to you!
Mycoplasma ( I guess this is what you are referring to? ) .. can be acquired thru a tick bite, but also in other ways. Can be airborne.
A low MCHC may indicate babesiosis (babesia) .. a coinfection of Lyme.
hope this helps!! Posted by fred0 (Member # 37371) on :
Thanks Lymetoo.
I hope my Dr. will be checking further on the babesia.
I go on Friday to the ILADs conference so I hope to ask lots of questions. thnx
