Hi -

I began Flagyl three days ago, and yesterday realized that I was having tingling and heat/cold sensitivity in my hands and feet. I'm taking B6 to help with this, but realized I wasn't taking enough.

So, I didn't take my dose last night or this morning. Seems like the tingling is better.

My question is: is the PN something that can happen so quickly, or is this a herx, and I should keep taking the Flagyl?

Thanks,
Sara

I had the same thing happen to me. I continued to take it, but I was only taking it 2 days a week and not everyday. It seemed to come and go for me and now Im not on it. I was not left with any permanent issues. I think mine was a herx/getting used to the drug.

Just heard back from my doc and thought future searchers might like to know....she said it's probably a herx, but to stop taking it for a week and then try again.

STOP THE FLAGYL! You could develop severe peripheral neuropathy. It started for me with the symptoms you describe (tingling and hot/cold sensitivity), and because I didn't stop immediately I developed severe peripheral neuropathy -- excruciating pain touching just about everything, agony when water ran over my hands, etc. It lasted, slowing diminishing, for months after stopping Flagyl.

Wish I had stopped sooner.

LymeCFIDSMC - How long were you on it before you started having these symptoms? I've read that it is typically seen in people who've been on it for awhile. I'm supposed to be pulsing two weeks on, two weeks off.
