I do infra red sauna and think it helped everthing thing from pain to feeling like I had the flu to just functioning better. I worked up to 30 minutes at 130 degrees, but started at 5 minutes at 115 tops. Increase gradually. Make sure to use one that does not use toxic glues and the wood is popular or something similar. I was told not to use pine or cedar. Something about the toxic smells. We ended up buying our own for $3,000. I have the name of company if interested.

Got my infrared sauna from Costco made from Hemlock. Great price and knew if I didn't like it I could take it back to them.
Love it and it really has helped me when I was curled up hurting. I am on IV so I can only use mine when not accessed but I am in it 3 times a week.

I'm on my second "tent" like version and I feel it's the best thing I did for myself.
It's important to start slow like cozy mentioned.

Treatment consists of three areas: kill/deter the organisms, detox, and fortify the body.
I believe the FIR sauna does just the 2nd one, ie, detox.
I think joint pain belongs in the first category of deterring/killing the organisms that are causing the inflammation, as well as the third, supplementing.
For me, oral clindamycin 150mg 2x/dy worked for five years to reduce joint swelling. Now I'm doing teasel root tincture and curcumin capsules.
I think she may need to experiment with more treatments and supplements to see what's going to treat.
