I'm not one who does well with antibiotic therapy in general, wondering about any success stories utilizing alternative therapies for Lymes? I'm considering homeopathy, MMS (Chlorine Dioxide), and/or supplementation/dietary therapies. Any input would be greatly appreciated! J

The salt/c protocol and antiparasitic herbs were what turned the corner for me after 4 yrs of abx.
Visit the lymestrategies site for more info on salt/c, and google parasite symptoms. After much research, and "seeing" results, I realized that parasites/worms played a MAJOR part in this disease.
The herbs and salt/c also took care of the other infections. You can also check out Buhner herbs. Antiparasitics, antibacterials and antifungals are all important in fighting this disease.
You can google each and then put herbs and natural healing into search engine. Hope this helps, Gael

I got better with Bionic 880 treatment. There are several threads here on it that should come up in a search.

- Parasites must be considered. Whomever you choose for treatment, be sure they are up to speed on the parasites that can travel with lyme.
Bionic 880 links in the set below.
In addition to both Gael's and sixgoofykids' replies about very valid considerations:
------------------------
It's best to consult with an ILADS-educated LL (lyme literate) doctor who has completed four years of post-graduate medical education in the field of herbal and nutritional medicine -
- and someone who is current with ILADS' research & presentations, past and present. -----------------------
Integrative / Holistic M.D., etc. (Be aware that those in this category can have various levels of formal herbal &/or nutritional education, perhaps even just a short course. Do ask first.)
Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:
Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;
knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.
You can compare and contrast many approaches.
BASIC HERBAL EDUCATIONAL & SAFETY links,
BODY WORK links with safety tailored to lyme patients,
& WHY you need an ILADS-educated, Lyme Literate Doctor (whether LLMD or LL ND, or both) -

do llmds's know anything about parasites? or treatment?? do some recommend it?
Posted by Keebler (Member # 12673) on :
- Some LLMD do know about parasites. It's been discussed at ILADS conferences. So, IMO, EVERY LLMD SHOULD know. Whether they know enough to guide treatment or not is another matter.
Find one who does, or add such to your team. Not ever doctor, nor every LLMD or LL ND can address all aspects.
Some LLMD do work with LL NDs or refer out to other specialists when necessary.
It often takes a team, or at least research from a team of experts that can be shared with our doctors who can then give it some thought and explore on their own the best way to proceed.
Just be sure that your main LL doctor know ALL that you take and has a chance to discuss changes you consider - beforehand.

In my opinion, the MMS is very dangerous.

Thank you all for the input! Gael: Could you post a link to the Lymestrategies site? I couldn't seen to find it... Thanks, Janna

Does anyone have experience with MMS and Lyme's?

I have Domestos in my bathroom, it cleans WC well, but I am not going to taste it. Every chemical is dangerous to the human body if you are going to eat it.

I tried 1 drop of MMS prior to getting diagnosed and ended up in the hospital. Looking back, I think it was making me herx immediately.

Get the complete methyl cycle mutations test, which costs about $500. This will address your individual needs and how to by pass mutations weakening your immune system. You can't do what someone else is doing and expect the same results because you are not in THEIR body.
For instance, if you have trouble with sulfates because of a CBS mutation, then juicing kale and spinach would not help you one bit. It would just make you sicker because you would produce an excess of ammonia. Taking certain supplements like cysteine for biofilm or MSM would also be harmful.
If you have the CBS mutations then following a paleo diet is going to harm you. There are other things you may need to avoid, like glutamate in peas, tomatoes, soy etc.
If you have MTRR+ then you are low in B12 but taking normal B12 is not going to help and will in fact make matters worse. A B12 deficiency has symptoms similar to lyme.
You might think of trying massive amounts of vitamin C but if you have NOS+ you will overload iron. Vitamin C will just make your body store even more iron which feeds bacteria.
If you are just trying this and that, you will never get well. You need to analyze yourself as an individual and treat yourself that way.
The fact that you cannot tolerate abx points to mutations which affect your ability to detox. You can't get rid of heavy metals etc until you address the mutations blocking your detox pathways. If you were to try DMSA for instance, with a CBS mutation, you would blow your socks off.
Once you address your blockages and by pass what is keeping you sick, then you might find certain medications much more effective. You also need to address exactly which infections you have. What is on the surface right now, not what you were treating last month.
Be specific.

I'm on the fence re MMS. Klinghardt's support in the past(I doubt he can support it now, as I believe it's illegal to sell it, though it's easily obtained) is interesting.
The fact that in very high doses it is poisonous is neither here nor there. Think of warfarin used to thin the blood--rat poison!!
What does concern me about it is it's oxidant properties and potential impact on thyroid hormones. However, a lot of people have benefitted from taking it at recommended doses.
