gerd or reflux symptoms also can mimic other illnesses.
has anybody experienced this reflux or gerd and how did you treat it?
reason i'm asking is that my sister has been on those ppi's (i think she takes nexium) for at least 5 years or more).
i thought they were only for short term.

I have gotten this, but, it goes away with omeprazole treatment. I used it for a couple of weeks, then it goes away for awhile.
I think that mine is from spasms in my diaphragm. My chiro does trigger point work on it, which definitely helps when the reflux feels like it's coming back.

PPI's barely help at all. Then I discovered that my reflux is entirely caused by sulfites. The CBS gene mutation (methylation stuff again) causes me to be sensitive to sulfites. And one of my most common reactions to sulfites is severe reflux/GERD. When I am very, very good about avoiding sulfites, I do not have any reflux.
Combine that with Gastroparesis, and sulfites cause he double hockey-sticks for me....it means it takes me longer than the typical 48 hours to get over a sulfite reaction...ugh.

I think my gerd was hpylori. Once I went on abx it went away. I wonder if ticks carry hpylori (they carry everything else).

gerd can be diminished by sleeping with your head propped up on pillows.

Yes, GERD. Taken Nexium for years. Can't delay taking them over a couple of hours or misery.

I'm pretty sure I have undiagnosed gastroparesis .. couple that with Sjogren's and my stomach is extremely sensitive.
I've been on PPI's forever it seems. Nexium for about 4 yrs now.

My son (age 25) was diagnosed with GERD last year and started zantac. He was recently diagnosed with borellia and bartonella.
