My LLMD was willing to prescribe Doryx and I just started it. I had not heard of it before reading about it here, so thanks desertwind for mentioning it! I am hoping my stomach will be happier.
In speaking with the doctor's assistant, she mentioned that the doctor feels a more immediate concentrated dose is more effective, but since I'm having stomach issues, she is willing to have me take it. Has anyone else heard this?

It was GREAT for me! Tons easier to take than doxy. However, go ahead and follow the same rules.
Take it in the middle of a meal and don't lie down for an hour.

I am having burning in my stomach. I looked at the bottle and I have the generic of doryx. Is the enteric coating not as good on the generic?
I am glad not to have nausea, but this burning is really bad.

I have had that burning as well. I think you need to repair your digestive tract lining. The way I did that was doing these 3 things:
1. By taking omeprazole or prilosec first thing in the morning, it will help to heal the lining of your digestive tract. Try to take it at least a half hour before ABX and food.
2. I have been drinking licorice tea, which also does the same thing. (This can raise your blood pressure so be sure to check with your MD on this)
3. I drink a little bit of kefir upon awakening and during the day as far away as possible from ABX. I feel like it coats the lining of my stomach and I know that it rejuvenates the good bacteria that the ABX take away along with your probiotics.
I noticed that the burning gradually went away when I did these 3 things. I hope it will also work for you.

Dbpei, thanks! I avoid dairy, so the kefir is not an option for me. I'll try the locorice tea, though, and the Prilosec.

You are welcome but I should have mentioned - DONT TAKE THE GENERIC FORM!!!!
I was on brand name for about 4 months - no problems at all with my gut. As a matter of fact my stomach felt better on it then off...
So, I got a refill and they gave me the generic form. By day two on the generic my gut was a mess so I went back to the pharmacy and told them I could not tolerate the generic and needed the brand name.
No questions asked - they gave me the regular Doryx and I was on my way. Gut fine again.
