I have chronic Borrelia, I know that, I've been treated now for 9 months, I see a non-LLMD but a very good Doctor, I've been on Doxy, now doing my first break of the pulse therapy of ceftin and zrithro, flagyl. I have about 4 wks. more of no abx before starting the second cycle. I really don't know much more than that and it frustrates the heck out of me. I get very tired very quickly and can not comprehend and overwhelmed easily. I try to research lyme and can't deal with it. I know I have other neuro issues, but many times feel like I'm loosing my mind. Kind of a funny/not so funny irony, I'm now taking care of my Father who has Alzheimer's and recently suffered a brain bleed full time in our home. H-E-L-P I need to talk.

- Sounds like a lot there, sorry to hear about it all.
You did not mention any support methods. Hope you are doing some kind of LIVER SUPPORT as that is essential to help you feel better.

As manybites says, bart causes a lot of neurological issues. Babesia could be the cause of getting very tired very quickly; the parasite lives in red blood cells.
Baboosh, you need to do two things.
1) Download and read Dr Burrascano's guide. It's stickied at the top of the medical questions forum. You can read the co-infections symptoms (those start on page 22) and have a pretty good guess whether/what else you have.
2) Find an LLMD. If your doctors approach is to take a month off treating lyme and not treat co-infections then you're not getting proper treatment. Ask over on "Seeking a Doctor" for an LLMD in Arkansas.
The overlapping symptoms is horrible. Brain fog can be from lyme, bart, or babesia. Sometimes you treat symptoms for years and have others sneak up on you. I treated bart and lyme for two years and THEN learned that I have babesia too.
Bart and lyme, in particular, have a lot of the same symptoms.

Thanks for your replies. I don't know that my Dr. has tested for other co-infections unless that would show as a positive on the Western Blot, as far as I know from Dr. I have Borreliosis (sorry, I said Bart above). He is treating me with the protocol of a Dr.C of MO. who is a LLMD. My Dr. wants me to go to a LLMD as well but there is not one in AR and the closest is said to be this Dr. C and he does not accept insurance. I have not financial means of supporting this kind of therapy, I can't afford my lab fees and dr. copays as it is. I will do more looking into your noted references about co infections and all. Thank you again.

Thank you Lyme in Putnam. I just took a shot of courage reading your "Keep goin when think you can't or keep tryin" that's really all we can do. It's amazing what a strong person you see in the mirror looking back at you yet sometime you feel like everything inside is crumbling to pieces. I'm sorry to hear about your Father who passed away. You take care of you as well.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through! I just wanted to say I understand! Although it is my child that is ill and not me, it is so easy to become discouraged.
The first thing I thought when I read your post is coinfections need to be addressed.
There are so many things in this illness that are hard to deal with. One of them is the financial cost. I would do whatever is possible to get good treatment though. One approach that may be less costly is Buhner's herbal treatment or Dr. Z's chinese herbs. I know people who have gotten better with them. Maybe this could be done for coinfections along with Borrellia treatment you are doing.
Amazing that you are taking care of your father on top of this. Is there anyone else that can help?
Hang in there! This is a good place for support.
It is great that your doctor is treating you and consulting an LLMD.

Thank goodness my Dr. is going to check into co-infections at the end of this pulse therapy 3rd cycle. I know this probably just means new herxs' and more antibiotics ($). But we have to do what we can... I'll check into the references that you noted about herbs. Are herbs generally safe to take with abx treatment? I do additionally need to seek support, working on that. Thank you so much for your support all of you. Don't know what I'd do if I didn't have you all. :-)

Just a thought-you just started flagyl-it breaks open the lyme cysts and can make you very tired, foggy etc.
