Started Lyme treatment 6-6-12 w/doxy, mino, and Levaquin. Dropped doxy 2 days ago cuz of nausea, began Zithromax last night.

I do Egoscue exercises- not demanding- daily. Today I feel like I need oxygen badly. Any suggestions? Can't take herbs. Thinking I might hyperventilate just sitting still. Any suggestions appreciated.

Since you won't try herbs (several of which would help), try drinking WHITE tea.

What you are looking to reduce is called elastase.

(Elastase is linked to COPD also.)

During phagocytosis of foreign substances these enzymes are also partially excreted into the extracellular surrounding, where the aktivity of PMN elastase is regulated by inhibitors (esp. the α1-proteinase inhibitor, α1-PI).

***An overwhelming release of PMN elastase, however, can exceed the inhibitory potential of the α1-proteinase inhibitor.***

Thus, enzymatically active PMN elastase, together with simultaneously produced oxidants (O2-radicals, H2O2, OH-radicals), can cause local tissue injury.

If you smoke (cigarettes), you must quit.

Ask your doctor about treating you for babesia.

I was on Doxy and Biaxin. Remove the Biaxin and within 1 1/2 week I had extreme air hunger around the clock. Add it back in and the extreme goes away.

With the 3rd round I have occasional slight hints of air hunger for a few min, but nowhere near as bad as it was without Biaxin. I also had developed positiional air hunger after I stopped the combo the first time. So when I would lay down at specific angles, I would get more air hunger. Thie positional one went away.

Make sure you take either Flagyl or Tindamax with your combos, otherwise you are just wasting time. Amoxi and Doxy will convert many BB to cystic forms & both those ABX will aid in diminishing cysts.

I highly recommend Doxy, Biaxin, and Flagyl or Tindamax. Take the Doxy with food if you have nausea. If you take it on an empty stomach you will get nausea. Food will diminish the absorption rate, but it's a better choice for nausea.

Thanks all. I'll read the link for sure. I'm w/an LLMD. Haven't yet tested for co-infecs., just dx'd last week w/Lyme. She must have her reasons for treating as she does- still waiting for her book to come in the mail, am eager to see what she says in it. I'm guessing she doesn't wanna overwhelm my beleaguered system w/too much at a x.

The air hunger seems to be worst in the a.m. after the Mino., had to get off of doxy cuz of nausea. Still have nausea w/mino. and phenergan, and food. Have lost 5 lbs since I began tx 6-6, can't stand to lose much more.

I may go to herbs if I must, but am on Guaifenesin for Fibro which still does help w/pain, hate to block it, but will if I must.

Hi Caren. One of my best friends Alissa is having this issue right now. She and I were out just a few days ago and she could barely breathe after walking a few steps. In her case, the issue is babesia. I would recommend your dr check you for that as soon as possible.

Also, I would look into c pnuemoniae testing as well. I have had weird bouts of bronchitis over the past year or so, and I tested pos for it as well. With your issues with pneumonia and bronchitis, it seems like a no brainer to check for that too. I hope you feel better soon. Jess

As others have said, air hunger is often present with Babesia. I use to have a really rough time with it and sadly after five rounds of treatment (one of the rounds lasted 9 months), I finally think I have it under control, but it may be something you may want to talk to your LLMD about.

In my particular case, and remember we are all different, my Babesia would start going haywire when the doctor started focusing on the Lyme or Bartonella so it became a real juggling act.

It's really hard to know for sure what is causing it, but you definitely should talk to your doctor about it. Good luck and keep us posted.

Cathy

@Chastain: I tested high (intermediate) 206 range 0-99 for mycoplasma pneu. IgG/IgM Abs Mpneumoniae IgG Abs. My LLMD just said it was a past infec.

I guess I'll ask her about Bab., I was hoping to get her book 1st to read what she says on co-infecs., but it's been very slow in coming. At least I can Email her. Thanks all.
