I have had constipation for years. After 3rd kidney stone removal my bowels don't even more with laxative. Looking for the magic pill. Any suggestions.

Magnesium with every meal (at least 250mg, I've used as much as 500mg per meal, plus what was in my calcium supplement).

Lots of water with and between meals.

Vitamin C - large doses can trigger diarrhea and clear any hard stool that is stuck.

Walking, even if all you can do is walk around the room. If you can't walk, do deep breathing. This stimulates parastalsis.

Fiber. Keeps things moving/regulates movement through the gut. Fiber is naturally ocurring in nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains (brown rice, certified gluten-free oats, etc.). Use a fiber supplement if you must, but watch out for gluten in the supplements if you are avoiding gluten.

If nothing is moving at all, go on a liquid only diet for a few days and increase magnesium and Vitamin C intake until things clear out and you are only passing liquid, then resume solid food.

What helped my obstinate constipation most was magnesium, going gluten free, getting rid of my diseased and inflammed gallbladder, and taking homeopathic Aurum Arsenicum.

You need fiber. Not the regular powder kind as that is usually soluble fiber which actually slows down passage through the colon. Insoluble is the way to go.

A good way to get a mega dose of insoluble fiber is a green smoothie. Just fill your blender with a bunch of kale/collards/purple cabbage, plus some bananas and frozen blueberries for sweetness and water. Have this daily and I Guarantee you will get regular.
