I have been waiting to begin treatment for Lyme after having had an allergic reaction to rocephin. In the meantime there have been some new developments and I am not sure if they are lyme related
Two weeks ago out of the blue I noticed that I had swelling behind my ankle bones on both feet, although the right foot was more so and painful. They still are swollen. My weight is normal, if not a little on the low side so I don't understand what this could be.

Hi there. I get swelling as well and im bone thin. In my case it is edema or fluid retention due to malnutrition. My llmd did say that he has also seen cases of unexplained edema with people who suffer with tick borne ilnesses.
The first step is to have a cbc done to make sure yr kidneys are functioning ok and maybe an EKG to check yr heart. Also, elevating your legs helps the swelling to go down in my case. Feel better. Jess

I too have had that off and on through treatment and never understood why it would pop up out of no where.
It was going on while I was actually in my LLMD's office, and one look at it and he prescribed Acetazolamide in my case. I believe it may also be a medication used for some forms of high blood pressure but don't think my doctor put me on that high of a dose.
It did seem to do the trick and bring the swelling down until treatment seemed to stop it from happening on its own anymore.
If it becomes bothersome, I would definitely mention it to your LLMD. He/she will want to know all of these types of symptoms that you develope along the way. Good luck.

Thank you both for your responses, it did concern me when I saw the swelling because I thought of the heart right away. I have been having a lot of palpitations lately. Much more and "stronger" ones than I have had in the past. Of course when I had an EKG done I didn't have even one!
My blood pressure is ok, even a little on the low side but I agree it would be a good idea to have the bloodwork done. It definitely looks like fluid there and there is no swelling anywhere else.
