I started treatment yesterday after two years off. I have Lyme and possibly Babesia for 13 years. I haven't been having headaches recently so i know it is related to the treatment. It is not muscle related-its all in my skull and temple. It feels like it will explode. Is this a herx? Does anyone have ANY idea of what will soothe it? I can't take pain meds bc they hurt my stomach so badly. Heating pad isn't working at all.

Bart is frontal headaches
Babs is temple headaches and feelings of swelling or tightness around skull

I was in the hospital recently for a kidney infection that included a very severe headache. They had me put ice on my neck, and that helped some. They said no heat, just ice.

What meds are you on?

Something that has helped me is Magnisium Oil. I massage it onto my temples and jaw region.

When the pain is unbearable I take a muscle relaxer (yuk - hate them but they do help in desperate times).

I second the ice. I would get severe pressure headaches from another neurological condition and putting ice at the base of my skull would help.

Yes... what are you taking? If you're treating babesia, then it's probably a babs herx. (ETC)

I'm taking Ceftin and Azythromycin. I think we are treating for Lyme, but we have treated for Babs in the past.

It does sound like a Babs herx. You could partially be hitting Babs.with the Zythro?

I am having very similiar symtoms after starting a new protocol for Babs yesterday. Head is a mess right now.

I am sure you know this already but stay on top of detox....

Those soft blue ice things really help. You can order them from Amazon.

You can mold them to fit your head, neck or whatever hurts.

I have even slept with them.

Hope you find some relief soon.

Sounds like a babesia headache to me.

Coffee enemas are wonderful when the headache melts away...ahhhhh!!!

The one thing that hubby says helps the most with his pressure/swelling type of headaches is arginine. Buhner includes that in his treatment protocols for bart and maybe babesia also. But you can't take it if you have herpes viruses.

Hubby has tried high dose niacin, gingko, vinpocetine, prickly ash bark, feverfew and many other things but the arginine is the most helpful. 2nd most helpful -- much slower acting though -- is lumbrokinase.

This is not medical advice, just my opinion based on hubby's experiences.
