Hey all.

I am wondering why green tea gives me so much relief. A lot of the time, if I am in a bad mental herx, or feeling like garbage, one cup of Green Tea completely makes me better. I have gone from being so down in the dumps, or just feeling crazy, to feeling awesome immediately upon drinking it. It also gets rid of the "Fluey" feeling.

What is going on here? Does it neutralize die off? I know it isn't psychosomatic. This is a definite physical thing that is happening.

Sometimes it brings on a sweat, followed by a pleasant positive feeling. Other times, it just perks me up and wipes out the herx. - Yes I am drinking caffeine free.

I know GT is a strong detoxer, but this seems too good and quick for just a cheap product that you can get anywhere.

Since starting Cipro for Bart, I have been having some big herxes, particularly neuro. Green Tea has wiped out a good 90% of these and actually made me feel completely healthy. What is up with that?

I am just wondering what the deal is here? What do I not know about green tea?

And those of you that do not use it regularly, GO OUT AND GET SOME IT IS AWESOME!

Research l-theanine. You must be very sensitive to this chemical.

It makes me feel better too. EGCG? I will have to try it for herxing. Thanks Lymeboy. :)

Interesting. I have had some relief from green tea too. But not like you describe.

Bea, oddly enough I remember taking L-Theanine last year and it helped me tremendously. After a while I stopped because I couldn't afford any more supps. But I should try it again. I take Gaba before bed, and that seems to be helping.

This is exactly why I posted this. Thanks Bea!

When I was really ill, I couldn't handle green tea. Made some things so much worse - flulike feeling.

However, when I improved somewhat, green tea (non caffeinated) did give me a pick me up and made me feel better. I still drink it today. I love the Liptom Orange/Jasmine/Passionfruit.

That is great Lymeboy! I have discovered that licorice tea has a similar effect on me.

I switched to the decaffeinated green tea after my lyme DX. Maybe I will try going back to the real thing and see if I get a similar effect.

try GT extract for a higher concentration. I was mixing it in wth my daily lemon water, but stopped while on Mepron, which is an oxident vs GT an antioxident.

see Dr B's guidelines... in supplements GT dosage is discussed

I also feel so much better with green tea. It calms my anxiety down and makes me feel over all better.

It is a very powerful antioxident and L-Theanine is good for it's calming effects.

I take green tea in the morning and it makes me feel better. I am on Mepron...so does that mean I should stop drinking the green tea?

gmb, I looked at Dr. B's guidelines and could not find anything about not taking GT or extract while on Mepron. I looked at the part about GT dosage and missed any reference to Mepron. Is it written somewhere else?

no, i never saw any reference to Mepron and GT.

I doupt if one or two cups would impact anything.

I somewhere read the Mepron worked as an oxidant, so I assumed that my high dose off GT extract was too risky to continue.

I take decaf green tea capsules for inflammation and they help a lot with the flulike body aches (the caffeinated ones made me jittery).

My guess is that you have inflammation from the die-off and that the antioxidants help with that?

Just a guess of course. But keep doing it if it helps :-)

Green tea makes me feel better too - and like you it's a real physical thing - I drink tons of it!

I do drink it away from the Mepron, GMB. I try to keep from having it within 1-2 hrs of Mepron. Also, I have heard that Artemisinin would be rendered less effective by GT.

I have read that GT enhances ABX - potentiating them.
