I never had to stop for several days but your body will tell you if you need to back off. Otherwise one could end up on the hospital.

I did that ALL THE TIME. Never for longer than a few days at a time though.

I ended up in the hospital two times in one week because of the herxing. We stopped for five days because I needed to be well enough to see my LLMD the following week.

At the visit, she stopped my antibiotics because I was having issues with my gallbladder and she wanted it taken out.

Basically, I was off antibiotics for a month. During that time I majored on detox, immune support, probiotics to boost my system.

I have gone back on and have been able to maintain my protocol.

Dr. J does alot of pulsing of antibiotics. He believes it is important to see if the immune system kicks in.

It is a tough call but everyone says it is a marathon and not a sprint.

As my LLMD said, If you herx so hard that you have to stop for a long time, you would have been better off stopping only a day or two .. and saved yourself a lot of pain and suffering as well.

Soccermama just proved his take on it. Same thing happened to me early on. I was in the hospital twice in 9 days with heavy herxing.

I just find I get so depressed and anxious that I can't take it anymore and have to stop for a rew days but this seems to help of I stop and the can re start

I just feel like such a failure though when I have to stop

Did anyone else have to stop because of severe anxiety and depression that lifted when stopping for a few days?

I was totally down with anxiety and depression, I went to 1/2 doses for 3 days and added in a low dose of Zoloft and it helps. Not 100% but cuts it enough that I do not have such terrible anxiety

Is this a common thing to have to take a bit of a break?

Can anxiety and depression get much worse when you are herxing and the body is overwhelmed?

I have and still do take breaks.

When I feel overloaded and toxic I take a few days off. I do not run each mini break past my LLMD, I just do it and report to him later.

As an example; I have been treating very aggressively for 6 months (been treating off and on for 8 years). Clean, healthy lifestyle and diet. I just found out I have elavated liver enzymes. Blew me away BUT I could tell my body was over taxed and the blood work confirmed it.

And does anyone know why the anxiety and depression get so bad from the herxing , I just seem to react so negatively to all meds and don't know. Why?

Bart causes anxiety/depression, so a bart herx is going to make it "worse."

It's your decision whether or not to stop the meds. Some say do, some say don't.
