I was having episodes of heart racing so my doctor put me on fludrocortisone .1mg, which i started 8 days ago.
He also switched up all of my antibiotics, so I started the first (Omnicef) on Saturday. By Sunday evening my heart rate dropped down to 60bpm and has continued to be between 50-70bpm.
Before starting theses meds it was always between 80-160bpm. Now it is irregular and can race at times but only for a minute or so. The beat is also very weak.
I'm not sure if it's the fludrocortisone or the omnicef or neither.
Also, randomly I started bleeding after I just finished my period a week and a half ago? This has never happened to me I've always been very regular.
Has anyone had an experience with these meds causing these issues or any advice? I feel weak, and completely out of it.
I started Malrone today, but the symptoms were prior to this.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you

You're taking a cortisone? Is your doctor Lyme Literate?

Lauren, Are you supplementing magnesium? Low magnesium can cause cardiac irregularities like an elevated heart rate.
You said that you began bleeding again a week and a half after your period ended. This might be due to ovulation. When the ovaries release an egg, you may feel a momentary sharp pain, called Mittleschmerz.
Other signs of ovulation are thick clear mucous, similar to egg white, and possibly blood tinged mucous. The blood tinged mucous would be for a short time, several hours to a day or so.
14 days after you ovulate, your menstrual period should begin. If for some reason you ovulate earlier or later than usual, then your period would also be earlier or later.
How long did the episode of bleeding last?

The heart irregularity, according to webmd could be the flurocortisone:
I controlled tachycardia with magnesium in about 35 hours - 140 to 90.

Thank you everyone.
Yes, my doctor is Dr. H from CA. He put me on a low dose to control the POTS. I'll try adding magnesium, I don't take any right now because my blood pressure is low and I thought it could make it worse.
I'm starting to really worry about the bleeding because it's very heavy and has never happened before. I think I'm going to try my family doctor to see if I can get in.
Thanks again for all your support!

I went through a similar thing and it turned out that one of my medications was interacting with another one. Once we figured out which antibiotic was the problem, most of the issue stopped.
We also figured out that I must have always had a lower heart rate, lyme is aggravating that but the medication that interacted with another one I was taking caused all kinds of issues. Lots of heart tests later, we stopped the offending medication and most of the problems are gone.
My blood pressure is consistently 98/58 and my pulse is always low.
