Hello, I recognized increased numbers of small brown dots, like the usual moles everyone has but they are getting more and more. Im taking ketek, Tetracycline, Minocyclin, Plaquenil. Anyone with this problem?

I have notices and increase in freckles, brown spots, and enlarged moles since being diagnosed with Lyme. I have no idea what infection they are from or if they are just an immune response to being ill. Its very strange.

excerpt-

Drug categories which are associated with photosensitivity include but are not limited to:

NSAIDs
diuretics
antibiotics
tricyclic antidepressants

May have something to do with the above...?

Interesting post Sparkle.

I was led to understand that this is a sign of a slight liver overload, which is common as we age.

I also noticed I got more of these flat brown or tan moles/freckles when my estrogen decreased.

I am wondering if mine are from doxy + summer sun...

Moles are supposed to be viral. But I would also think that they have to do with toxicity, and perhaps an infection, like Bartonella.

The fact that we are taking all these meds, plus many of us not exercising much, plus the infections, surely leads to lots of toxicity. Which is why it is so important to detox lots and to exercise to our capacity (which sometimes is minimal to say the least!).

small brown spots can be a side effect of the minocycline. These look like flat dark brown moles but are not true moles. My derm said that they were benign/harmless.

You might want to have your doc look at them at you next appt just to be safe.

Hi thanks,

my liver enymes were always normal. One doc said it comes from increased nitric oxide which is increase in infection like lyme, but I recently recognized more moles with increased treatment and feeling better. I wonder if this is associated with a special infection e.g. babesia

I have the same thing and would love to know why. Not from the sun for me because I'm always covered. Got a lot in different places when I started IV doxy so I hope it means that things are dying.

According to Dr. S' book on bartonella, pea size brown spot and crusty moles are due to bartonella. You can also have loss of pigment so your skin look very splotchy, like an old person with "liver spots". Most of mine went away with treatment.

The pin head size raised red spots can also be either bartonella or babesia. They look like tiny blood blisters.

es I know what S says but mine are much much smaller than a pea, just like very small moles. I think it increased since taking Doxy/mino/tetracyclines. Wonder if it is a sign of killing the beasts or if it is just the typical side effect of Mino/doxy in high doses.

My 12 yr+ of red spots have turned to brown spots. I have thousands all over my body. They are tiny, unlike the liver spots that I also have on my hands today. My liver hasn't been happy in a long long time.

Every few weeks a line or area will have new red spots appear. I'm not sure whether it's babs or bart.

My LLMD said mine were hyperpigmentation and took me off mino immediately. Mine looked like brown freckles and were on my feet and lower legs. It didn't look like the pictures I see on-line for minocycline induced hyperpigmention - at least the first few pages of hits.

The brown dark spots left eventually - a few years after going off mino.

2 other doctors looked at the brown spots and had no idea what they were.

I also had the red spots before the brown spots and before I went on minocycline. For me, it was Petechiae and likely caused by babesia. They are caused by bleeding under the skin. They are gone now.

Count me in too! Mine started a few years ago after Zithromax.

I think it's prob. from the liver and all the inflamation running in our bodies plus all the toxins.

Another person on here had them and hers started getting less after she did Metal Chelation.

My old Doc said he had another patient that started getting less of the Liver Spots after Metal Chelation also.

I would say if you guys haven't already, test Heavy Metals and see if that could be why.
