Does anyone know if cryptolepis also treats bartonella or just parasites(babesia)? I noticed improvement while taking it but I have only tested pos for bartonella. Would this suggest I also have babesia or is it hitting the bartonella?

From what I know of it, it doesn't hit bartonella at all.

Everyone in Maryland with lyme also has babesiosis. It's a given. That's been my experience for the last 10 years talking to lyme patients.

Crytolepsis is a broad spectrum antimocrobial

Buhner now likes sida acuta as it hits both Bart and Babs (I cam attest to that)

Buhner also says it's ok to take both at same time. .

I started Sida Acuta, how much do you take canefan?

Dr. H uses it for Babesia!

A patient of his whose Babs was really stubborn (treated 2+ years) got out of her wheelchair on cryptolepis!

It's an African root traditionally used to fight malaria. (Can;t think of the other name right now.

Took it for a month, did nothing for me, but tasted just like the soles of a brand new pair of hiking boots!

Since the testing is flawed my llmd had me taking mepron/biaxin even though I didn't test pos for babesia but I only noticed minor improvement so I wasn't really concerned with babs. Given the improvement I've noticed with cryptolepis I may try to target it more now. I may also try sida acuta that was mentioned. Thanks for the posts.

I have had great success with Cryptolepis, but I have been taking it for Babs. Whether it can actually treat Bartonella, I have never heard that mention, but I don't like to ever say "never".

I don't think that's a focus point for it though for sure and they don't seem to be mentioned in the same sentence. Good luck with your Bartonella treatment.

I just received the Woodland Essence cryptolepis and the alcohol content is quite high. I feel like I'm taking a shot of straight rubbing alcohol. Is this bad for a Lyme patient? My Dr. told me to let it sit out for 30 minutes before taking it, but it still tastes like alcohol.

I felt flushed and weird after taking it, but I react poorly to anything with a drop of alcohol in it. I'm hoping I can continue taking this.

Cryptolepis tastes terrible, there's no way around that! I've only heard of it being used for treatment resistant Babs. Dr. H of NY did a presentation at last fall's ILADS Conference about it.
