My son had a recurrence of lyme after he had surgery 11/4/11. He was on a variety of oral and then IV antibiotics before he finally got rid of the lyme symptoms. He has been off antibiotics as of 5/21/12. He has no lyme symptoms and is improving regarding the fatigue. I was wondering if anyone else has/had this problem and how long does it take before you feel like your old self?

Fatigue was a primary Lyme symptom for me. Your son might still have active Lyme disease if he's still fatigued. Has it gotten worse or better since he got off abx?

He is getting better. Just one month ago he couldn't last the day without being tired. Now he's good all day, back to working out etc. he just can't get up early enough in the morning.

It helped me to change my diet to low fat vegan. Many of us have protomyxzoa which causes extreme fatigue and the best way to control it restricting lipids and arginine. I have gotten much more energy while on this diet. It is a healthy diet so sure can't hurt to see if it helps.
He might also try pulsing stromectol once a week to see if that helps. It hits parasites. Protomyxzoa is a blood parasite that creates biofilm.

I agree with Razzle. It takes time to heal the adrenals. There's a book/website called Adrenal Fatigue, a 21st century syndrome (or something like that).

Nothing seems to be more fatiguing than some remnants of parasites. Do not miss dealing with them.

I have been told that fatigue is the last to go when getting well.
According to my LLMD, pain people are easier to get well, but the fatigue people take longer. Having said that, none of us get well quickly.
I am the pain person and my husband is the fatigue person. He is not seeing much improvement but I am seeing improvement for part of the time. He can sleep anytime, I have to take Klonopin to sleep.
In the end, I think coinfections just complicate everything and none of us really know exactly what we have. The doctors are guessing without useful testing available.

Agree with GiGi about dealing with parasites. She has posted about this issues for yrs.
NOT someeting you want to overlook because any eggs or larva left can start the cycle all over again. Better to do a parasite cleanse now and not have it hit later on.

Maybe loss of electrolytes, Adrenal after fighting Lyme and then a surgery???
I pray it's something simple.. My husbands father ,I'm told< had a period of extreme fatigue and actually went into coma,, week later they figured out his potassium was way low.. That was many years ago..

If he had general anaesthesia, he got od'd on fluoride, from halothane gases used to knock him out. That would diminish the effectiveness of the thyroid axis, which is intimately connected with the adrenals.

Parasite Cleanse examples are Parastroy, Humaworm, Hanna Kroeger Wormwood Combo etc. You can google parasite cleanses and also look up the info on Humaworm symptom list. Parasites can ZAP your energy.
One mos is usually not enough and should continue until symptom free. Parasites/worms are an often overlooked co-infection of Lyme even by LLMDs. DON"T IGNORE THIS.

The surgery was before the lyme came back. Anything traumatic to your system can bring the lyme back if it wasn't dealt with quickly the first time.
