This is going to sound crazy, but can a probiotic make your tinnitus worse? It seems that every time I take my new probiotic, my ears go crazy.
It is Metagenics Ultra Flora Plus DF.

I had problems with my ears on VSL#3. I tried it 3 times (just couldn't take it).
I don't think it's the dose though. Maybe try a new probiotic. I'm up to 350 billion (different brand), and no tinnitus (except I get it on full moons or when I'm exhausted).

I woke up today with a wicked case of tinnitus. I'm thinking it's the antibiotics battling the disease. It freaked me out. But I suppose better than hearing voices in our head!

Definitely better than hearing voices. I've witnessed first hand what that does to people. I have had tinnitus for many years now. I haven't noticed any of my treatment protocols affecting it, though.
Before I knew I was ill I thought perhaps it was caused my my very loud playground whistle. I was an elementary school teacher until I could no longer keep my eyes open as I walked down the halls, or sit up all day.

My tinnitus has been just horrible since I lost some more hearing recently. It fluctuates throughout the day and night. It is like my nervous system is on overdrive. I am hearing 3 or 4 different loud pitches much of the time. It is enough to drive you insane.
I wish there was something I could take or do to make it calm down. I went to my ENT yesterday and he thinks this is all due to Lyme. I guess it is time to treat it more aggressively. IV ABX when I return home from Canada.

Some abx are ototoxic. I had terrible tinnitus when I was on zyth. It went away after I stopped it.
Crazy comment about VSL#3 as I take that. I stopped zyth due to ringing and it hasn't helped. My doctor thinks tinnitus will clear up when done with meds. Could a probiotic really cause ringing in the ears?

The only thing that I know of that may help is to keep the radio on or other types of white sound. Even TV Posted by AuntyLynn (Member # 35938) on :
I think treating more aggressively is the best answer for you Dbpei.
Hope you have a great trip to Canada!

Thanks everyone. I am running an electric water fountain in my bedroom at night and I keep soft music playing most of the day.
It helps - but the worse time seems to be in the wee hours of the a.m. The fountain can't even drown out the roaring tinnitus. I have read from others that is when the bacteria act up.
I will be so glad when this passes. Praying that the IV ABX will make a difference.
