I have been using mag tabs SR. I am currently using 2tabs twice a day but I'm wondering if I would feel better on a higher dosage.

The amount on these is very low only 84mg, because it is sustained release. What type and how much do others use for muscle/nerve pain.

Today I decided to try another type that was 500mg and about an hr later felt so much better, not sure if it was a coincidence [confused]

I have taken Magnesium Citrate, 200mg 4X a day and a 400mg Magnesium Complex at night.

You have to be careful w/magnesium...You go slow when increasing. Too much and you get diarreha.

I have heard that it causes an upset stomach. I haven't had that yet. I take 2000mg of magnesium citrate per day.

Wow so it looks like my mag was pretty low in comparison to both of yours.

I also tried the MagTabSR based on Dr.B's recommendations. It was not effective for me. I had to take many many tablets and still could not work up to a helpful dose.

I find mixed types of mag in higher doses work much better for me. One of my favorites is Life Extension "Magnesium Caps 500mg". It has magnesium oxide, aspartate, citrate, succinate, TRAACS magnesium lysyl glycinate chelate. Here's a link if you'd like more info:

I also like Enzymatic Therapy Brand "Krebs Magnesium Potassium Chelates". It has magnesium citrate, fumarate, malate, succinate, and alpha ketoglutarate. It also has potassium. Here is a link if you'd like to see more info:

I take a few of both brands of mag every day. They do not cause an upset stomach. They help my bowels move more regularly.

When you start a new mag, start slowly and gradually increase the dose to tolerance. If/when you experience loose stools, back down to the last dose you took. That should be your maintenance dose.

Once you find a general maintenance dose you can take more or less based on how you feel for the day.

Oh, one more thought. I'm guessing you are wanting the magnesium to help with muscle pain, right?

If this is true, look for a mixed mag or mag malate, mag glycinate, or citrate. Do not buy straight mag oxide.

Straight mag oxide would is best used for moving/clearing the bowels.

You want your mag to be absorbed so look for a mix or one of the others mentioned above.

My doctor recommended me to use cream with magnesium.
I found out a link how to make a cream myself.
http://drmyhill.co.uk/wiki/Magnesium_cream__how_to_make_it_and_use_it
I made it and used for several days and it works very good for me. It reduced twitching in legs.

Thanks I will look into those! I have heard calcium can help as well??

Yes, my LLMD says calcium helps with mag. He recommends "Ossopan MD" by Xymogen. Says that this is the most absorbable form of calcium.

These are the ingredients:
Calcium (from MCHC and di calcium malate) 800mg
Magnesium (as di magnesium malate and magnesium glycinate) 400mg
Vitamin D (as cholecalciferol) 200 IU
Microcrystalline Hydroxypatite concentrate 2000mg

I read somewhere that magnesium is a food for spirochetes, and our body lost magnesium and we have twitching. If we use pills, spirochetes can eat that magnesium also. But if we use dermal cream, we can use it and nothing for spirochetes.
In that link I earn:
take 2 spoons of Epson Salt, and 1 spoon of water. Dissolve.
Take 1 spoon of solution and 1 spoon of your cream,
mix and use after bath. It enough for 2-3 applications for the whole body. Keep covered with wet cloth.

I do not know about Ca.

I currently do not worry about "feeding the bugs", they will take from my body until my body cannot support itself. I need to feed and support my body to.

If calcium is not in the blood, the body will take it from the bones. Our bodies are smart and have survival mechanisms.

When we try to starve the pathogens I think that we can also starve ourselves in the process.

Of course, this is my opinion. Based on my own personal research.

You must form your own opinion based on research. We are all here to share what we have learned.

Thankfully we all have our great docs to help us too.
