Does anyone know how to test the viability of a probiotic?

I just received sacc from vitacost and it didn't have an icepack in it.

saccromyces boulardii should NOT be refrigerated

I go by results myself. Be SURE to also buy a "regular" probiotic.

I now use this one. I think it's really good!!! And it's important for me, as I am dairy free.

Interesting. I didn't know that. Can it withstand being shipped in this summer heat?

I am taking cp1 and really pleased too. I have much better results than taking Theralac.

Do you take anything else besides the cp1? I am mixing it with my theralac because I need to use the theralac up

I have been refrigerating my sacc b. It is Jarrow brand, and says on the bottle that refrigerating it will make it last longer. Curious where you heard that.

Heard from vitacost. They said:

Upon thorough review of the situation, the manufacturer does not require us to ship their products with a cold pack. Your items are stabilized to not need refrigeration until the seal is broken.

This is allergy research brand.

I ordered probiotics from vitacost that did need to be kept refridgerated. They were packed in a very small ice pack. I paid $30 for next day delivery. When I recieved them the ice pack felt like it had been micro-waved for 5 minutes. It was extremely hot!

One tiny ice pack is not going to work in this heat. Will not buy anymore probiotics till winter. I will then stock up on them for the next year.
