A new study uncovered biomarkers for Lyme disease symptoms that persist even after treatment.

(Immunologist) Schutzer revealed the

marker proteins.

http://discovermagazine.com/2012/jan-feb/90

I am sorry if this is a re-post as I am trying to catch up with reading my Discover Magazines.

You need to be aware of the above.

When Bb picks up p8 in the tick's saliva, that prevents our immune system from fully cleaving (chopping up) "his" proteins which lyme patients continue to react to. The "lectin" pathway is inhibited (specifically the mannose binding lectin pathway)

P.S. Chronic fatigue is possibly linked to a retrovirus family called XMRV which is a *gamma retroviruses.* I separated the word for a reason.
(Same issue as above.)

Logic says...perhaps need a gamma inhibitor.

Note...overexpression:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17896990

http://www.nature.com/labinvest/journal/v91/n7/full/labinvest201155a.html read the 2nd paragraph after the abstract.

One of Bb's lipoproteins is phosphatidylcholine.
And many of you know about the methyl "component" in lyme as well as the MTHFR - folic acid component.

"Caloric restriction, as well as certain plant nutrients (Resveratrol, berberine, green tea), would

stimulate PGC1-alpha synthesis.

This, in turn, could support and amplify irisin production during exercise.

BTW...Juvenon is a very good company!!!

"Dr. Bruce Ames, Ph.D., the co-founder of Juvenon, Inc., is a Professor of
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of California"

Ok, on a good day I can understand most of this, do a little research and figure out the bits I don't understand.

Until I started reading this I thought today was a good day.

Would you mind bringing that into good old Southern English?

Sounds like a spinal tap would be needed to diagnose, not sure I'm going to do that. Also sounds like some of my thoughts on acetylcholine are lining up with the studies, though today I'm not putting the puzzle together.

HA HA!!! Too funny, Old man!

Marnie, what does this mean?:

"Caloric restriction, as well as certain plant nutrients (Resveratrol, berberine, green tea), would

stimulate PGC1-alpha synthesis.

This, in turn, could support and amplify irisin production during exercise.

I can confirm that green tea caused night sweats with me, a bit of reading sounds like it increased my body temp. Laid off the tea, quit sweating.

Could all be related.

Bottom line...they have found marker proteins that cause chronic neuro lyme which means...

Now they have a target! And nobody can say you are faking it! Or that chronic neuro lyme doesn't exist.

Now they can develop a targeted drug that can impact (eliminate or at least lower) those marker proteins.

*******

Berberine -> PGC1-alpha which impacts PPARy.

PGC-1 alpha = PPAR gamma *coactivator-1 protein*.

Takes two to tango.

PGC1 alpha is good for our heart!

PGC-1α-deficient mice exhibit significant cardiac dysfunction (2).

In this context, it has been recently reported that PGC-1α-deficient mice underwent accelerated heart failure when challenged by transverse aortic constriction (3).

These data indicate that PGC-1α is essential for the heart to be able to meet the increased demands for both ATP and work output in response to physiological stimuli.

11. Berberine therapy for heart failure

http://www.naturalstandard.com/news/news200401004.asp

Night sweats...a lot of healing and memory consolidation takes place during sleep...esp. if one still has REM sleep (acetylcholine up).

I can confirm that Resveratrol and green tea, taken separately, affected me significantly.

Resveratrol cleared my mind, and I could THINK again.
I took green tea capsules for two months, and lost a couple pounds each month, without trying.

I stopped the green tea because I ran out, and I had other supplements that I wanted to try.
The weight did not stay off, but came back gradually.
My body seems to have a "set point" at which it tries to keep my weight.

I used to get Discover Magazine, read it cover to cover.
I stopped all my subscriptions due to financial limitations.
I try to read it online, but it's not as enjoyable, and they delay the online publication.

PGC1-a is triggered by exercise too, but lyme patients don't have the energy to exercise.

Understandable!

Listen, I love all of you guys, especially Old Man ( LOL )....I needed to smile today.

But I don't understand where I can go to find the research that says we have confirmed evidence for chronic lyme...

Additionally,...what this research says I can do to feel better right now...

So, can someone put this info in terms that a degenerated lyme/babesia brain can make use of....

And I want to know when the Infectious Idiots of American will be referencing this information???

I also needed a laugh today and I have gotten it with Oldman's first comment about reading, or not reading today. Thank you. I can relate very well.

Click on the link.

Please try to understand...while INTACT spirochetes *maybe* gone, you are still reacting to some "left over" proteins of Bb.

Which is what other researchers have found too.

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/118647?

The problem stems from Bb picking up a protein in the tick's saliva (called p8) which prevented us from fully chopping apart "his" proteins.

Great info, but so way over my head. Thanks for sharing.

So that means we have to targe these specific protein to fully recovery????? What is the chance of this happening any time soon, and where is the evidence for Chronic babesia.

Targeting specific "neuro" proteins is happening as the researchers look for a CURE for AD.

It will come. Don't get discouraged!

Chronic babesia - read second paragraph from the bottom (HIV patient with babesia):

Although these links talk about (similar) malaria...maybe:

Where does one buy these: pyrimethamine and berberine?

Many, many thanks for all the above links!!!!

The first is Rx the second is OTC.

We don't know the dosages nec. or the timing for berberine...yet.

Nutin' wrong with combining "traditional" and "nutritional"/"alternative" treatments, IMO.

Discuss this with your doctor!

Pyremethamine link (above)

Curious about toxoplasmosis (which the drug above also combats) - cat feces...don't change the cat litter if you are pregnant!

More than 60 million people in the U.S. have the parasite. Most of them don't get sick.
