I started IV rocephin two weeks ago on a low dose (1/4). I had a reaction to it back in April after only two half doses and stopped taking it. I developed a rash on my face and had a couple of hives on my neck.
I was recently on a 9 day course of steroids from an ENT for an ear problem (which did nothing for my ear) but this enabled me to start the rocephin again withou fear of an allergic reaction and hopefully desensitize my body to it. My LLMD is taking it slow with the 1/4 dose with no immediate plans to increase the dosage as of yet.
It has been over a week that I have been off the steroids and so far I had no adverse reaction to the rocephin. However, after todays infusion I became very light headed and dizzy. Is this a portent of the allergy coming back or is this a normal side effect? Has this happened to anyone else?

I had severe blood pressure dips with IV Rocephin. This in turn would cause light-headedness and weakness.

Yesterday I became dizzy as soon as the IV began to drip. I am also having a problem with my ear so the LLMD and the ENT think it may be my ear causing the dizziness but i really dont think so. I had to sit at the drs orffice for 4 hours before I could drive.
Really dont know what to do at this point. I guess I will try it one more time today and if it happens again then it is obvious it is the IV.

I ended up with a true allergy to Rocephin and it's cousins after months of the IV drug.
I went through three days of drug allergy tests.
My symptoms with the allergy to Rocephin were:
Severe vomiting, severe itching rash all over my body. Yucky taste in my mouth made it almost impossible to eat anything. I was down to 95 lbs.
