Has anyone stuck with their GP to work on Lyme and if so how is your success?

I have my doctor willing to sign off on IgeneX lab work.

I am wondering how much more she will be willing to do. I feel like there is SO much information on here that I can use to help the process.

Am I just [loco]

Maybe I can get a good start with her at least

Do you know if the GP has done a preceptorship with an LLMD? That would greatly help with their knowledge. Are they ILADS trained?

Would they like to attend the next ILADS conference Nov. 2 - 4 in BOSTON?

That would be so grand, even if not intending to treat but just to gather information.

Why would you think you are crazy (or nuts) or whatever that disparaging icon is suggesting.

NOTHING about lyme, nothing about having lyme is crazy.

I get very sad each time I hear someone here ask if they might just be crazy. We have to dust off that trash talk that landed on us from symptoms that those who are just too lazy to become educated seem to toss on us.

Now, you may have some quirks but - about lyme symptoms - I assure you that this is real. Walk in a self assurance that you are attending to your needs in your search for health.

If you wonder if you are crazy to think your doctor could actually treat you, no, that's not crazy.

However, it is not realistic. See next post to explain why I say that - and ways to help change that. If they could go to the ILADS Conference, that would be a wonderful start.

Before trying to figure out how much your GP can help you, be sure to learn about the POLITICS of lyme.

She or he may have limitations due to their boss or their partners, etc. Still, I hope they will at least become lyme "friendly" so as to be some kind of support to you.

Even if somewhat willing to treat, you need someone with experience. Lyme has a very steep learning curve. It's very complex, really a sub-specialty that requires a lot from both doctor and patient.

Diagnosing Lyme Disease (&/or whatever else is going on)

Other tick-borne infections and other chronic stealth infections - as well as certain conditions that can hold us back - are discussed here.

(What ILADS is) . . . WHY you need an ILADS-educated, Lyme Literate Doctor - starting with assessment / evaluation.

I think it is possible to get help from a PCP who is open and willing. BUT.. you better know your stuff!

Keebler- yes crazy to think she ( the doctor ) would know enough to help or would treat long enough

Lymetoo- your right about I better know my stuff .. I think I was just shocked she was so willing to do a test from IgeneX she even has test kits in her office

I was like WOW so different then my first go around long ago ( my first time ) when every PCP did treat me like I was crazy [Frown]

I saw a LLMD the first time around eventually and just remember the $$$$$ strain ... I guess I just was hoping things would have progressed further since then [Frown]

No, little progress. Still political. Maybe you could get by with fewer LLMD appointments.

I am beginning to see in these few days on here how little progress there has been [Frown]

All in all what price can you put on your health - right

Watched Under Our Skin other day - eye opening for sure
