I did my bicillin inj tonight. I aspirated as I always do and did not see any blood so I went ahead and injected.

Once I pulled the needle out it was like a waterfall. There was so much blood coming out I could hardly control it. It was running down my leg, got all over the place while I was scrambling to try to reach some towels.

I don't understand why this happened. I have been injecting in the ventrogluteal site as to prevent hitting a vein/nerve. Since I did not see blodd when I aspirated I'm assuming I wasn't in a vein. If for some awful reason I was is there anything now to be worried about?

I have been using aleve the past few days not sure if that may have caused the excessive bleeding. [confused]

I've done IM bicillin self-injections as well as subQ B-12 shots. You may not have injected in a blood vessel but through one so when you pulled out it released blood from the ruptured vessel. I've done that....scary but usually OK.

You're correct though....always aspirate!

Yep...what previous poster said. I wouldn't worry too much. That happens sometimes.

Yeah, I hate the bleeders. Happens to me sometimes too.

Hold firm pressure on the site for ten minutes, if that should happen again.

If you're taking anything that "thins" the blood, you may bleed for a longer time than usual.

All of you doing the shots here..
How long and is it helping and how long before results//

Hope you come back to site.

Sometimes I seem to bleed when ,very tired, and sore....so maybe hitting something a little off.

So far, by the grace of God, if I just clean up and take some rest with a heating pad on site it settles down quickly
