I have been told by a friend who has Lyme that she takes 500 mg of Magnesium everyday and it really helps. Anyone want to share about this topic. I am wondering if anyone could recommend a brand that is most effective? [group hug]

OmegaBrite should help. It is not cheap and you can only get it on the internet. It also comes in children's dosages.

It is very high EPA- an omega 3 fatty acid that is

anti-inflammatory - it is FUNCTIONAL.

Our brain needs 100 Grams of glucose per day and the rest of our body needs another 100 Grams, so the brain is a "glucose hog".

Our brain ALSO needs fats...which is why infant formulas have added fats...esp.

DHA which is structural, not functional like EPA is.

It is the brain INFLAMMATION that we HAVE to get down because it impacts "bystander" cells called SY cells which are

brain stem cells.

Not a good idea to knock off bystander brain stem cells -> even MORE inflammation.

If we can increase ATP levels in the infected cells (which has been the goal in various lyme treatments), ATP will drive Mg back into the cells.

Our ATP is attached to Mg as Mg-ATP.

It is getting ATP levels back up that is the problem because it appears Bb does this:

Mg-ATP -> Mg (out) -> ATP -> ADP + cAMP.

Bb's "toxin" has this:

ADP-ribosyltransferase activity

Which is common with many pathogens.

cAMP levels - high - is a signal to the cell to stay alive...waiting for help.

ADP + ribose -> DNA repair - ours.

IF a pathogen is not stealing ribose (5 carbon sugar) to make its RNA (which converts to DNA by losing an oxygen).

Follow?

PERSONALLY...I'd be on GlycoX 500mg TID 15 minutes before meals. ONLY!!!

If on any other med/supp. it is imperative that you KNOW they work in synergy.

For malaria, berberine can be taken with an Rx.

For yeast infections, it can be taken/used along side of Monostat (which comes in many *topical* + suppository forms).

Berberine also works in synergy with cinnamon.

Berberine works in SO many ways (besides getting inflammation down).

Epsom salt baths are a good way to get magnesium.

Magnesium is responsible for over 300 functions in the body.

Always take magnesium in DIVIDED DOSES, 2 to 3 x a day. All at once is too hard on the kidneys.

Doses up to 2,000 mg total for the day can be helpful but most manage with 750 - 1,000 mg daily total. Those with seizures may do best with 2,000 a day, up to what they can manage.

Bowel tolerance is a good determination.

Manybites,

Thanks for clarification. [Though, there are a few who advocate avoiding some key nutrients altogether.]

When I was first dx - long ago - a doctor told me to stop all vitamins because they "fed" infection. I suffered from that very bad advice.

Dear Manybites-
You became paralized? How are you now, may I ask? If that is too personal please disregard. I am hoping now you are getting proper treatment. So long to be sick... I am sorry for that. Thankyou for all your help.
