^eosinophils (higher than normal) usually means allergy or parasites. My eosinophils vary depending on whether I am doing anti-parasitics or not. I think it's possible and even probable that parasites cause allergies. That seems to be my experience.
Terry I'm not a doctor

hey terry thanks for the message, so your esenophils have been high with parasites?
also what does it mean if my overall wbc count and neutrophils are up higher than they have been in a while , does this mean that even with treatment that the lyme and cos are getting worse?

blood parasites (such as babs) or other parasites (such as intestinal)?

"High numbers of eosinophils (eosinophilia) are usually associated with allergic diseases and infections from parasites such as worms."
how high can they get with parasites, mine are double the normal range and that really scares me
how high have others been?

I have passed parasites for 2 years and never had elevated eosinophils.
My LLMD cannot figure out why they are not elevated.

can babesia increase your neutrophils?

My eosinophils were slightly elevated and RBC, Hemoglobin and hematocrit were slightly low. As soon as started to treat Babesia eosinophils went back to normal. However, when was herxing a lot on artemisinin- RBC and hemoglobin got much worse.
I have done Dr. K. antiparasitic protocol and Parastroy, salt/C- herxed on it, but never seen live or dead worm, but it doesn't mean I did not have the micro-ones, well, babesia and Lyme are parasites too.

Maya...
Good question. My eos is always high....always assumed it was "allergy" but it is interesting to note that it is also associated with parasites/babs.
Will have to ask my LLMD about this as well. Nobody every was concerned about that blood level...just assumed it was "JUST allergies" (always hated the just since allergies can significantly reduce your quality of life too)

I got high eosinophils as part of a reaction to a med. I also got diagnosed with the now trendy diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis.
The treatment is to squirt- guess what-inhalable steroids (inhaler) directly into the mouth, swish with water, and swallow. But that is for the esophagitis w/high eosinophils, and of course you can have high eosinophils for other reasons.
Do you have any allergies? What meds are you on? Maybe you could try Benadryl for a few days/nights? Do you have GERD?
Sometimes giving up dairy and gluten can help as well.

I had incredibly high eosinophils (I don't remember the number now, but it was high enough to shock my former llmd, who doesn't shock easily.) She assumed it was due to babesia, and the number did come way down after two rounds of mepron/zith.
The last cbc with differential I had still showed my eosinophils at 25%, which is quite high, but was a lot lower than it had been before that.

Yes, high eosinophils can be associated with an allergic/autoimmune condition called eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). The condition is diagnosed with an endoscopy and biopsy, but there may be an association with high eosinophil count in the blood as well. There is a lot still to be learned in the medical community about this and other allergic conditions.
I did want to correct one thing already mentioned - there are treatments for EoE other than steroids. Steroids should not be the first line treatment for EoE. Rather, EoE can often be controlled through avoidance of food allergens.
