I got the preliminary 10 day result back from the borrelia advanced lab test, saying "inconclusive", it will go back to grow for another 10 weeks. My question is has how many have had an "inconclusive" and then have it come back negative in the end?

Has anyone gone on to continue to treat with a negative on this test. My docs are so positive it's lyme and bart, but if this is negative, I'm definitely going to wonder if all this is something else even with the history of tick bites.

If it were me, I would continue treating. The fact that they are going to continue the culture for another 10 weeks does not necessarily mean it will take that long to get a positive. That is just the end point of the culturing.

You CAN have a negative on this and still have Lyme, but if it's positive there is no doubt.

I am going to take this test as well once I can save up the $595.00.

Just out of curiousity, were you symptomatic at the time your blood was drawn? They say that this could help produce quicker results. And what time of the day was your blood drawn and sent out?

Apparently this test is 80% accurate, but you could still be positive even if you get a negative, but if you`re positive, you are definitely positive, with pictures to prove it.

I`m very anxious to get this test done myself.

Yes, I was super sick on the morning the drew the blood, Hoping it "helps".

Docs here have grown VERY apprehensive lately about treating sero-negative patients. I'd have to leave the state to find someone and even then I don't know who.

I had a spect done last week, praying that the results show what they need to, I'll get those results tomorrow, I have 24/7 brain swelling (for years), in addition to hopefully getting that positive test back in OCT.

Advanced Labs said they would not even be looking at again until the next 10 weeks were up, in Oct.

I just want to say "Good luck."

Will you make it to the Lyme picnic in Sept, even for an hour? Everyone loves the picnic. It's a great place to connect. That's where I met our local Lyme community in 2008.

I stand corrected. Have not had this test yet myself, but thought that others had reported the culture was checked multiple times.

hi joahsark,

my results were inconclusive after 10 days and negative after 10 weeks. that created quite a bit of confusion, but i also had a spect scan and the results were consistent with lyme. (i also had igm+ 23, 39 on the wb).

the negative culture still makes me question the diagnosis from time to time, but the docs think it was a false negative.. and i'm getting a picc line in a few days.

good luck,
karina

A picnic?? I no longer "do" picnics. Can't imagine.

Is it "safe" in the PNW??

My sons test came back negative after the ten weeks..not sure what dr J in ct will say about that..see him in a few weeks

Don't worry, Tutu. The local Lyme leaders would never hold a picnic in a high risk tick area. We're sick, not stupid.

My SPECT was abnormal with blood flow restriction in two parts of the brain. One step closer I guess.

Parasite testing next while we wait for the weeks to pass.

Congratulations on your abnormal SPECT!

I can't even believe I'm saying that. But I know how important it is.

I hope your sample shows some spirochetes.

Do you remember which brain areas were ischemic?

Lol. I know it, it seems so crazy to happy for an abnormal brain result. I forgot to grab my copy of the report from Dr. W. She said two areas but of course I forget what they were, memory must've been one of them. LOL.

Thank you for you good wishes!!!
