Is it in a dropper bottle? Dark Glass bottle with a glass dropper that you remove, as with herbal tinctures?

If not, a dropper is best as this very thick oil can "get away from you" but until you can get a fresh glass dropper (mountain rose herbs has them at their site)

Over a wide dish, carefully pour just about 1/8 of a teaspoon in to a wider soup spoon. I say this because it can be nearly impossible to measure this out into a 1/8 tsp. and not spill it all over.

If you pour into a spoon over a clean dish, then you can lick up any major spill. I know that sounds odd but this oil is the price of gold. You don't want to loose any.

Also, by measuring over a dish, you will protect your countertops. This very red oil can stain so if you do spill, be sure to clean up right away.

Same with clothing. I used a dropper and pull from the glass bottle, over the sink stretching my head far enough out so as not to drop onto my shirt. But that does not always work. If I wash the drop or two out of my shirt ASAP, with warm soapy water, it comes out.

But, I'd sure not take a dose of oil wearing any really nice top.

Be hydrated and have a clean mouth when you take the oil as you want it to cling to your mouth for a while.

I find that, at all time, I need a little bit coating my mouth.

Before eating, I have to have a couple of drops to sort of protect the open tissue in my mouth somewhat from the pain of food.

At night, after brushing and flossing and waterpik (if you can) . . . then a full dropper (30 drops) of SB oil is very nice to hold you through the night but also get more into your body than just enough to coat the mouth.

But that dose can depend upon how much you got and your budget.

As this is an intense orange oil, after you put it in your mouth, it may color your lips and it may seem to color teeth. But, I've found that it does okay with the teeth. Oh, I wish it were clear but it is the only oil I've found to really work and, really, all the dark herbs and foods I consume are more of a problem for my teeth than this oil.

I'm mentioning this so as not be alarmed.

However, if you whiten your teeth, I wonder if they may take up color more easily. Call the company and ask them in that case.

I don't whiten and never will as I can barely tolerate even any "safe" toothpastes due to their burning. Whitening products can be very harsh.

Again, just mentioning as a precaution.

I hope this works for you.

Oh, always have a clean tissue handy to wipe off the bottle. Somehow, no matter how careful I am, oil seems to find its way to the collar and outer surface.

For that reason, I suggest taking a small cup, line with a clean tissue and nesting the bottle inside that to protect your cabinet shelf or countertop.

You can used a clean tissue now and then to clean the collar. However, if you happen to touch the glass dropper to your teeth or mouth when getting a dose, empty the contents into your mouth and then take a bit of soap and run the glass dropper under warm water, cleaning it with your fingers.

Dry dropper with a clean tissue. Try to wash only the lower part (the tip is all that would touch anyway) as if you wash the whole dropper the top part is a pain in the next to properly dry and reassemble.

Q: How long does it take to feel the results?

I felt soothing immediately. However, depending on the shape of your mouth and what all is going on, it may take a while to heal.

And this would be just part of the overall plan.

As for dose, that depends on what other oils you take, and your budget.

I do best if I can have 8 oz. of this for a month. However, I've had to cut back to about one ounce a month and use drops sparingly as something is better than nothing.

But you can go up to 2 oz. a week (8 oz. a month) and the oil is very good in many ways, not just for the mouth but more does seem to help the mouth better than less.

Clarification:

I suggested putting the oil in a clean mouth when you won't be drinking or eating for at least a half hour.

Since it's good to keep the mouth always "oiled" throughout the day, just swish well with water first.

Can you just put a few drops on your tongue?

How's the taste?

Taste is neutral. I notice noting. It's just thick oil.

Best to put under the tongue so it's not swallowed too soon. It's supposed to stay in mouth as long as possible and cover all tissue.

As least six drops seem needed to coat the whole mouth. More can be swallowed and that also works with the body.

Cost is the key here regarding how much or how little. When I've done more (up to 8 dropperfuls a day), my mouth has been better and so have other symptoms. More into the whole body is helpful for this problem more so that just to cover the inside of the mouth.

But even a couple drops in the mouth is some relief and better than any other oil I've used. And I've tried them all.
