the doctor decided to look at the stomach. haven't had it done in oh about 5-8 years so i guess it's time.
we have to be there at 6, procedures is at 7:30 then 2 hours for recovery. should be home by around 11 i guess.
poor husband. he has to actually drop me off and pick me up. he won't stay during the procedure, not him.
hopefully everything will be ok. been taking enzymes with meals. no fat.
we'll see what this brings. am terrified of being put out. i get so scared i actually shake. and i hope i have a better nurse to do the iv than the hospital...i'm a bleeder so they better be careful. going to ask for verced for the procedure. puts me right out.
man, i dread this.

It's really easy. I've never had any trouble. Maybe the procedure has gotten more streamlined in the past 5-8 yrs. I had one 2 yrs ago.
My only complaint was that they kept wanting me to sit up afterward and I was like a wet noodle!!
I think they usually use versed and something else for pain. ( not that you'll have any pain )
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Try not to worry Randibear.
This really is not a bad diagnostic procedure. I just had one done a few weeks ago and they took some biopsies too.
A couple years ago I had to have the endoscopy done without any anesthesia. That was pretty miserable, lots of gagging and crying, but it truly was not painful.
This time I talked with the anesthesiologist and told him about my history of waking up during surgeries (even my back surgeries) and he was sure to knock me out. I was asleep during the whole thing and only woke up when they wheeled me into recovery. I wake up in a snap and am ready to go so that wasn't surprising
I'm supposed to do the capsule endoscopy next week so that my doctor can see my small intestines. That will be a new test for me.
Good luck with your test tomorrow. Hopefully your doctor will be able to see all that they need to best diagnose and treat you.

Good luck, Randi, will be thinking of you. I haven't heard bad things about this procedure. It will be okay.....keep telling yourself that.

Yeah I remember the last time. I had to get the Nurse to even help me with my bra!!! And yep fell flat on face when I bent over to put my shoes on. Lucky I did not hit anything. Nurses were Laughing but really I was too out of it and should have been in bed not being rushed out the door. They finally called husband to help. I slept through the afternoon till The next day
That's me. Never react like anybody else

I have done at least two without anesthesia. A little gagging but they do numb the throat.
I even had a small intestine celiac biopsy WITHOUT anesthesia. I had to swallow what seemed to be a mile of tubing. I don't think I was numbed at all because I remember swallowing and swallowing. This was the dark ages... 1980.
Randi.. I hope they don't try to get you out so fast. I felt really pushed to get up and get out and I was so woozy.

well i got home early. this place was great. i went in at 6, test at 7:30, out by 9 and home by 9:30.
the nurse did the iv very well. they use something call probecid or something. it's not versed. she said it's like a hypnotic or something. but i woke up completely no grogginess or anything. walked out with a little help.
couldn't believe that he stayed the whole time. said it wasn't worth it to drive home for just an hour or so. surprised the heck out of me.
doc came in and said he widened the esophagus, took biopsy for h pylori and ulcers. said i had mild gastritis, but everything looked basically ok.
he said if these attacks continue he may wnat to do an mri and pursue the pancreas issue, which i truly think it is.
i'm on almost total no fat now with enzymes so we'll see how it goes.
