Hi there, Just had my yearly physical and labs came back with cholesterol being high...this seems unusual to me because I eat good and exercise...anyway didn't know of any lyme correlation...I got the standard eat better and exercise note from the doctor (who is LL, but not the most knowledgable LLMD out there)...
anyway my cholesterol was 220 and LDL was 150, HDL was 43 and ratio was 5.1.
Any feedback would be appreciated. I do eat very well and exercise, so I'm confused/worried about this.

Yours is not all that high. I myself would never take a statin drug for cholesterol. Too much danger in that for me.

My lyme doc told me that lyme can elevate cholesterol. Mine was definitely elevated when I got to him. That's why I asked him about it. I was worried as this was a definite change for me.
Once I got rid of lyme, my numbers went down.
Your numbers aren't bad.

Thanks for the info...just another thing that seems like modern medicine has gotten wrong...I wish we could just go to the doctors and get what we really need instead of figuring it out ourselves.

Just googled. Cholesterol is in all animal tissue - not only in human blood. Anyone here with high cholesterol having die-off?

The Lyme bacteria uses cholesterol. Cholesterol is an important part of the nerves, and when the Lyme bacteria reduces it, our bodies make more in defense.
But it's not the cholesterol that causes problems, it's the inflammation. Inflammation is part of our body's defense against a systemic (bodywide) infection like Lyme.
You can fight this by doing things that reduce inflammation.
