I'm thinking about asking for Ivermectin when I meet w/ doc next.

Can Ivermectin be taken along with an aggressive abx protocol?

Yes.

Good move. I'm glad to see you are considering this avenue. I think it is of PARAMOUNT importance. By far, I have gotten more out of (recent) ongoing parasites treatment than anything else I have done in the last 16-20 yrs.

If it becomes too much, I would not stop the Ivermectin (and/or other parasite meds). I would consider stopping abx and continuing the parasite treatment. This is just my opinion.

Best to you,
Tammy

Work with your doctor on length of time. Treating parasites is a long-term thing (like Lyme is). Each doc has different suggestions. I'm a big believe in Dr. K and his proven protocols. He's big on rotating meds, approximately every 2 weeks. Meds like Ivermectin, Pyrantel, Albenza, Alinia. Biltricide is only done for 2 to 4 days (unless some docs use for longer, I don't know...).

Also, keep in mind, some compounding pharmacies are MUCH cheaper than others. (Key Pharmacy in Seattle is very good.)

It might be a little challenging to figure it all out with your doc....which meds, which pharmacies, etc., but don't give up. Once you work out the details you will be on your way. It is all worth the effort imo.

Good luck.

Great info, thanks a bunch everyone! I'm guessing Ivermectin isn't covered by insurance?

did you get compounded ivermectin? How much did u pay for ivermectin? How many milligrams?

Posted by Tammy N. (Member # 26835) on :

Mine was compounded. 12mg, 4 pills per day, for 2 weeks. I think it was $178 (if I'm remembering correctly).

My insurance covered it- regular drugstore.

My Dr. prescribed it 1x a week, little over max dose for my weight.

By the way, I'm going back on heavy oral protocol for Bartonella (2 big antibiotics for it) and currently take Bicillin injections,

and was told to stop the ivermectin for this-

Surprise what was the dose that you were taking 1x a week? Were you taking it with the Bicillin?

Posted by surprise (Member # 34987) on :

Haley, yes with Bicillin (2x a week), Tindamax 2 weeks on/off, also rotated in some Alina for a couple of weeks-

Been working on Lyme and parasites, don't think I was treated aggressively enough last year for Bart (different LLMD)

and feel it's been coming back last few months.

So, going for Bart with 2 big guns, keeping Bicillin, but no more Tindamax and Ivermectin.

Weigh 100 pounds, 12 mg on empty stomach 1x a week.
I only did 9 mg, tomorrow my last hurrah, going for the 12 mg.

Tammy, did you take 12mg X 4 pills every day for two weeks? That would be 48 mg a day. Is that correct? Very high dose.

I took horse paste every day for two weeks. Then my order of the human version came, stromectol and I took 12 mg for 3 weeks, then 6 mg every day for two weeks. Then horse wormer again (as I out of stromectol) every other day.

I got a new order of stromectol - in fact 3 orders all came at once - but now I am having trouble tolerating it because of the side effects of headaches and eye irritation so I am only taking it every 3-4 days. I have a few minor symptoms creeping back in but otherwise I am doing very well.

Yes neff.

Wow Tammy, you didn't get sick? I couldn't even think about going that high dose.

I did 3 days 'on' within 5 days, at my 9 mg a day, and that was hard.

surprise what 2 big guns are you doing for bartonella?

Posted by surprise (Member # 34987) on :

Levaquin and Rifampin- Together!

When I was first dx'd, I did Levaqiun by itself, nothing else w/ it, for 5-6 weeks, then taken off.

Some months later, same LLMD had me pulse rifampin and Cipro as part of a mold protocol?

Anyway, was on those for only 1 month, break, then 2 weeks.
Also did Bar-1 and A-Bart.

Now have different LLMD-

up - good thread

Is a full moon night a good time to do this (tonight), or does it even matter (any night)?

And has anyone ever tried this with DMSA?

Posted by nefferdun (Member # 20157) on :

Be carful of DMSA. I have the CBS mutation and DMSA is full of sulfur. WHen I did it, I was a mess - lock me up in the looney bin kind of place. EDTA is better tolerated and does not pull mercury out of the teeth.

Does anyone else get headaches from ivermectin?

Posted by Energy2Heal (Member # 2010) on :

nefferdun - yes the Ivermectin has given me headaches, although not bad ones. But I haven't even been able to work up to 12 mg. a day.

I also get irritated eyes, blurriness in one eye in the morning, and weakness.

Have you gotten bad weakness where you can hardly get up?
