Went to an optometrist today for new glasses. The knuckles on my hands have become swollen and painful which he noticed straight away.
During the course of our conversation he asked me if it could be Lyme as that was his first thought. I did not even mention Lyme to him before he said this! I was blown away as I do believe this is the cause. I got the impression that he is very familiar with tbd. Wow.
We joked a bit about the ridiculous dx of anxiety--he held his hand up mimicking mine and said "yeah, this is anxiety" Gotta love a doc like that.
Previously I have tested + for Q-fever, Babesia, RMSF as well as Lyme. Unbelievably despite + tests, I have not been treated adequately due to ID doc ignorance--shocking, I know.
I have not yet treated myself due to mega-expenses treating the kids. But now I must treat b/c I am bordering on being non-functional, which isn't an option. I need the use of my hands.
I managed to get a script for plaquenil from my primary. I am hoping that I can get a mini-appointment with a LLMD so I can get a script for doxycycline, which I've never taken. I think this would be a good start for me.

I don't know about a "mini" appointment - my first LLMD appt was 2 hours, going through my entire history, symptoms, etc. But any appt with an LLMD would definately be warranted in your case!
I can relate with having the mega-expense of treating the kids, too...I certainly could not function, however, as a single mother, without my health. I would be of no use to anyone, and I cannot imagine how I would even take them to their appointments, grocery shop for healthy meals, and prepare their meals if I felt as horrible as I used to!
I hope you can get in and get started soon! I think it's awesome that your optometrist "gets it!"

Hi Canaan and thanks for your response.
Wishful thinking on my part re: a mini-appt but a girl can dream, right?
Yep, it's awesome that an optometrist gets it. Who'd have thought?
My hat goes off to you. I am not a single mom. But I too would be of no use to anyone if I didn't have a modicum of health. Without our own health it would be next to impossible to take our kids to their appointments or prepare healthy meals for them.
