This week I have developed a burning pain on my arm in the exact same location that I developed shingles in several years ago.
I was wondering if any of you know of a topical creme/ointment that may help to alleviate this sort of pain?

My spine doctor gave me an RX topical gel for nerve pain. It is compounded out of 6 meds: cyclobenzaprine, diclofenac, gabapentin, ketamine, tetracycline, and orph?
The label on the syringes is small that the meds names are all abbreviated. I don't know what last one "orph" stands for.
Anyways, it helps. It doesn't completely relieve the pain but it makes it better. There are other combinations of topical pain gels that your doctor can order for you through compounding pharmacies.
Only problem is that your insurance may not pay for the meds. Mine didn't.

My nerve pain is in my hips and my legs, so a little different location. My LLNP gave me lidoderm patches to place on the painful areas.

If you live in a state that allows medical marijuana - I've seen some oils & rubs that are made from marijuana. It might help...?

I have had good results from the neurogen tutu mentioned. It has a strong odor though. Not bad... But very fragrant, like lavender. You can get it at CVS as a cream (in the pain relief) or as an oil with the diabetic products for neuropathy.

Topical Ketamine gel! Prescription needed, of course, and only compounding pharmacies make it.

Online order, no RX needed, Tei-Fu Oil from Nature's Sunshine.
Tei-Fu Oil is the only thing I know that helps kick the neuro pain at the skin level and just below the surface.
Good for headaches too. Not much on joint pain. Keep it away from eyes and wash hands throughly after applying it as to not rub your eyes (or other areas) after ward and cause yourself a problem.
Rub on gently- a few drops goes a LONG way. Should give about 6-8 hours relief from neuro pain.
Also, a mixture that doesn't work quiet as well, but helps for about 4 hours, is lavender oil. Mix about 4 parts lavender with 2 parts PURE jojoba oil and rub it on gently.
Could use olive oil to dilute the lavender oil if watching nickels, or use it straight if not skin sensitive.
If they don't work for you, they should, at least you'll smell better for a while.

THANK YOU to everyone! I'm sorry that I have neglected to come back to this post- it has been a rather crazy time for me. (very busy with work, not feeling all that great and my home was broken into this week)
Anyway, the pain, what I can only guess is nerve pain, stayed for only a few days, then dissipated, then returned, but at a less intense level. So, your suggestions are very much appreciated!
Hey TC, I actually still have some TF oil somewhere from many moons ago. I'll have to dig it up and give it a try.
