So if you were looking for a doctor to help you detox heavy metals and when you called the office to ask questions, the receptionist told you the doctor only does IV chelation because oral detox does not work, would you consider being treated by him or would you turn and walk away?

Did they offer treatment with suppositories?

I can understand your concern over IV - it is costly and timely - likely an average of 30, three hour treatments at around $100 each. Doctor's that have this type of equipment have a significant financial interest in getting use of them but on the other hand, I can understand how IV would work better ...

No, suppositories were not mentioned. I can understand how they could work better too but it was said that oral don't work. I'd love to hear some opinions on that.

Orals do work. I would run if someone told me they only did IV chelation. I was at my PCP's office and there was someone there who was getting IV chelation for 3 months, and felt horrible, and heavy metal levels were not going down. I told the patient that I was chelating with orals and felt much better on them.

I agree with Hoops (docs that do this (IV) have a significant financial interest).

Catgirl, did you do orals under a doctor's supervision or on your own? And if under a doctor, what kind of doc?

I'm looking for someone to take me thru it but I'm not sure in which direction to go.

I'd love to do it on my own if I felt safe doing it.

Thanks Hoops and Catgirl.

Under my doc's supervision (lyme doc). There's more to it than just taking a pill. That's why it is so important to find someone who really knows about this stuff, otherwise you could re distribute the metals you've tried to withdraw (can go to brain).

I wouldn't do this on my own (it's not worth the risk). Look for an ILADS trained specialist whose had some success with detoxing patients.

I know it's dangerous to do on your own. That's the problem - no other option. Maybe I'll just wait longer.

Thank you.

Plenty of people do this on their own . ALA , garlic, cilantro , NAC , bentonite clay can all work . IMO , it is best to go slow if possible if you are doing it alone . The suppositories can be ordered and you can even start them at half dose so not to overwhelm the body with toxins.

If you find a LLMD or LLNP in an 'integrative practice', they will likely be able to help you with this. I went searching for a new LLNP because I was sure that metal toxicity was part of my problem.

I have just starting using chlorella and cilantro (the herbal route) within the last week or so. I would be afraid to do this without the guidance of a medical professional.

ND had me start with cilantro drops.

After a few months, she switched me over to some stuff called Bio Chelate (it comes from Germany) [Smile] I can't remember the dosage, sorry.

You might want to google for more info.

I just can't tolerate the IV's, orals etc.

I think orals work too.

I'm actually doing the DMSA Suppositories at a low dose only 2xweek and I'm slowly seeing some differences.

I also know of someone who did IV Chelation with a very experienced Doc and she swears by it and she got all better from it, specially her adrenal issues.

I guess you just have to see. But I think the oral and supp. are much more gentler way of doing the detox.

Good luck

Thank you, GIGI! As usual, very helpful info.

Heavy metals detox lately became a trend [Smile] .

Me too, I'm into detoxing heavy metals right now. It looks like when infections and/or parasites go, it leaves the heavy metals trail, that probably made you sick into the first place!!!!

what are the best suppositories to use for this? Is there a good brand?

Great links Gigi! The mercurylife was fascinating!

GiGi,

What's in HMD? I couldn't figure out what's actually in it. They said it's 3 natural products but I wonder what?

Posted by GiGi (Member # 259) on :

Chootik, It is explained here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srXehskprZw&feature=related and if you explore some of the other links I posted, you will find more information.

Take care.

Wow, Gigi, this HMD is great stuff! The directions are on the box I suppose? Anything else we should know? Is there an average length of time people detox metals for or is it all individual?

Do you agree with this?

"People removing amalgams: Amalgam removal releases high quantities of toxic methyl mercury. It is imperative that you start the Ultimate Detox Program at least 3 months BEFORE sitting in the dentist's chair and continue for 3-6 months AFTER completion of the amalgam removals. This cannot be emphasized enough as Dr. Georgiou has personally seen and treated many people who after amalgam removal developed severe illnesses such as MS, Cancer, severe mitral valve prolapse, neurological disorders and others. Dr. Georgiou also recommends adding 100-300mg Lipoic Acid to your daily detox programme during the amalgam removal process."

which is found here - http://www.detoxmetals.com/pages/HMD-Ultimate-Detox-Program.html

I am about to schedule hubby's amalgam removal but I'd like to know what you all think. Have you learned that it necessary to detox before amalgam removal as well as after? I know I didn't do that. Sheesh, makes me worry a little bit...

Hubby currently doing oral Chelation. LLMD never mentioned anything about amalgams. Good LLMD also.

HMD has cilantro in it. Is that safe for those early in heavy metal detox?

Posted by GiGi (Member # 259) on :

susan2health, yes, HMD is safe. Please read the various information on the HMD websites. The ingredients are balanced. But it is important to take the Lavage with it. And be sure to take other binders. You are releasing metals with HMD and they need to be out of the body as quickly as possible.

Lyme-o, Amalgam fillings in the mouth are not a good thing, whether chelating or not. www.klinghardtacademy.com has lots of pertinent info on that subject.

Take care.

Hubby has problem with suppositories. Once inserted, hes up so many times at night going to the bathroom, the suppository is out after a couple of hrs. Thats not enough to do any good. Does anyone have suggestions on this?

Is the HMD alcohol based (can't seem to find what base is made of)?

How can one start a metals protocol before they have metal fillings removed - I thought this stuff was not safe while metal fillings were still present? Confused...

Posted by GiGi (Member # 259) on :

First rule in toxicology is you remove the source of the toxin = in this case the amalgam fillings. Why attempt to detox the system while the toxins are still being released from the fillings with every bite and jaw movement heading for deposit in the central nervous system.

You will find several pages of answers about HMD on www.thebeewellcompany.com

I'm still confused though - the dentists say to start mercury protocols before removing the fillings as a preparation for the process of removing the fillings.

But when I try to understand about the protocol they use, certain ingredients are claimed to not be safe to use while the fillings are still present.

So how can one start a protocol in prep. for filling removal if the protocol contains things that aren't safe to use before removal of the fillings?

I'm still confused.

Lavage ingredients contain milk thistle. I cannot take milk thistle right now because of malarone. I also don't tolerate dandelion root, which is also in Lavage.

I will be rotating Heel drainage kit and Pekana detox kit instead. Hopefully, that will work just as well as Lavage.

Razzle, ideally it makes sense to remove them. I have a history though where I already did this (many years ago) and then had them put back in because the composite hurt my teeth (a long time ago). I know, I know... Given my history though, my doc told me not to remove them. He has seen thousands of patients and knows what works for his patients.

Dr. H has proven that detoxing metals helps patients, even ones with amalgams. I have to say, my brain is so much better. I started feeling better as soon as I started detoxing. And once I added in parasite treatment, much better. Brain fog seems to be gone.

I am checking out the HMD because it seems to have less side effects, not that I had any problems with what I used. The HMD is much less expensive.

That said, those who have used it, is there any alcohol in it? I haven't been able to find a label on this stuff that I can actually read. I know there is oil in it, but not sure about the alcohol.
